I agree with the cp/peja trade to houston just not with posey. This will give us cap room to make a push for k. durant in 2011
No way Durant signs with us, he has a great thing going in OKC, plus he's way too young for Yao Ming, when he reaches his peak 8 years later Yao would have already retired by then.
YES!!!!! In all honesty, the Hornets must be in the most dire of situations for them to even think about trading their cash cow/best player away. Simmons' comparison between what OKC has done in rebuilding to what NO could do has one glaring flaw and that is that OKC fans got a team that had a franchise player (Durant) from the start and Presti accumulated better talent after that. If the Hornets trade Paul away, they basically blow up a team their respective city already has a hard time supporting so they would only further the apathy. Of course I would be on board for Paul even if it means taking on Peja and Posey. Why? Because they can shoot the ball and we need those kinds of players.
Starting 5 -- PG: Chris Paul SG: Trevor Ariza SF: Shane Battier PF: Carl Landry C: Chuck Hayes Bench -- G: Kyle Lowry G: Jermaine Taylor F: Chase Budinger F: Peja Stojakovic F: James Posey F: Darius Songaila F-C: Joey Dorsey C: David Andersen few problems lead to a conclusion that this transaction won't be too good for us. too many 3-pt shooters, not many inside players we only have Dorsey, Hayes, and Andersen for Cs. everybody can drive/slash, but that's an NBA player's basics. we'll be left with a lot of Fs that specialize in outside shots. where's our points in the paint? we'll be losing mid-range-shooting, posting PF-C and the mid-range jumpers with post-up have been a crucial part of Rockets offense. Yao shot those all the time, Scolandry and TMac are avid mid-range shooters. including one of Scolandry on the trade is automatic downgrade on that range, and i'm thinking that we'll lack cap space to resign Yao if this trade happens. after the transaction, we'll only have 1 solid mid-range shooter and 2 MAYBEs: Landry and Lowry/Andersen. that's scary. Songaila would be one as well, but he doesn't get enough minutes to prove himself a true PF-C. that's how i envision this would play out for us. and it wouldn't make sense for this to work unless we lose one of our key role-players (Battier, Scola, Landry).
Paul made West. Landry and Scola are just as good as West(for the record I'd rather have both then West). Bosh is a pointless trade. He's soft and can't move to center if we need him. He's going to get max money but isn't a max player.
Resign T-Mac to a reasonable contract, get Yao back, make a few tweeks to get another big man (not David Anderson) if necessary, and come back with the team that was ready to take us to the finals a year ago. With the emergence of Brooks, Scola, Landry, Hayes, Lowry.....this team is in damn good shape.
I'd go for some version of the New Orleans trade, but there's no need to take on all their garbage. Peja would be bad enough, but thankfully his contract would be up after next season. If you could trade Tmac and Brooks to NJ, Devin Harris and expiring Bobby Simmons to New Orleans, Chris Paul and whatever to Houston (especially if we could wind up with Courtney Lee in the deal)....use a trade exception to help make the deal so that Paul's BYC is offset... We get Paul, NO gets cap relief and a decent replacement, Jay-Z's Nets can add LeBron and another significant free agent next year before the move to Brooklyn....
Actually, there would be a NEED to take on all of New Orleans's garbage. THAT would be the only reason that the Hornets would even consider trading Paul. Once you start talking about "only" taking back Peja's contract, I think all trade discussions for Paul would be off.
I'd absolutely love the Toronto trade if we could somehow guarantee that Bosh stays past this season. The other three trades, not so much.
The only way I could get "4.Fake Trade 8a" trade to work on Realgm was to include Ariza in the trade as well which after last night would be a bonus for us.
I don't see why New Orleans would not pull the trigger with Houston in their point of view. Unless they acquire another superstar and some minor pieces they will not be able to make a deep playoff run, yet alone win a title. With their current roster I'll give them a break and say they'll lucky and make 7-8th spot in the playoffs and then get eliminated. They are in no condition of winning now or later with their current lineup and they do not have any resources of aqcuiring an additional star player that can complement CP3. They are doing the opposite by dumping salary like Tyson Chandler, since they are in debt and over the cap by $18 mil. New Orleans should have a high payroll since their city is small, which is only 2 million population. With that being said we send out Mcgrady, Cook, and Brooks, for CP3, Peja and one of their garbage. We do not have to send out Scola. Peja and of their garbage contract last until 2011, which isn't that bad. We can absorb their bad contract assuming we go deep in the playoffs and win the title, which is possible when Yao comes back next year. Of course we all know why we would do it, but from New Orleans point of view I don't see how this fails for them. Their current payroll is $76 mil which is around $20 mil over the cap. By the end of June 2010 they will be relief around $24 mil of their payroll w/ the expiring of mcgrady and cook. The only downside from their view is when cp3 is gone, they would lose lots of audience. However keeping cp3 is not a big enough audience attraction to make up over $20 mil in sales. Again I do not see why New Orleans would not pull the trigger.
Rockets have a club option on Landry for $3 mil next year, which they most likely will pick up, if they dont he'll be a restricted FA (which could mean Rockets could try to low ball him again but I dont see them doing that). As it is I see Landry making 3 mil for one more year...
Wow, I couldn't even understand that article. "Fake Trade 7A to Team C for Player B..." Does this guy think his readers are rocket scientists?
Best pieces for Rockets: 1. Chris Paul 2. Joe Johnson 3. Chris Bosh Those are all selfless players with huge quality. When you combine any of the above with our scrappy role players and Yao, we are an instant contender for title. That being said, I would say our best chance to win a title is when Yao is back; therefore, as long as we get one of the above, I don't care whether we let T-Mac's contract expire or not. This season is great for Rox to gain bargaining power for our role players. The timing is just perfect!
Dude...if the Rockets are getting Chris Paul, they can give up ANYTHING and take on ALL OF THE BAD CONTRACTS from the Hornets and still come up ahead. Chris Paul is just that good. A more likely scenario is Rockets settling for getting someone who is more of a "potential" star or a "2nd level" star, young superstars (and I mean SUPER! in case case of Paul) who doesn't have physical or mental defects (compare, McGrady in Orlando) and are not leaving imminently anyways simply do not get traded in any non-ridiculous circumstances.
T-Mac+Brooks+maybe a pick is enough to net CP3+(Peja & Posey)'s contract. NBA is all about $$ and Hornets is losing tons of $$. To include Scola in the deal, I think Morey'd ask Okafor instead of Peja for balancing of the roster. Okafor, Hayes Landry, Anderson Battier, Budinger Ariza, Posey C P 3, Lowry not bad at all. and we still have Yao to add-in wow!
What about Brooks, Budinger, McGrady, Dorsey, and Cook for Paul, Peja, and Songaila? Hornets dump a lot of money for next year plus get some good young players.
