Again, making shots is the only thing matters to fans on this board. Ariza is ok except his shooting, good enough to be a MLE player, but certainly not the star player like so many people expected him to be at the beginning of the season.
ariza is not a first option player. his role is to stay at the corner and shoot 3s, not dribble and pull up for a shot. thats what made him so effective for the lakers during last playoffs. too bad no one else in the starting lineup besides brooks can create their shot, so i guess he is forced to.
I was screaming at the TV for Rick to put in McGrady in that third quarter. Watching Ariza struggle is agonizing.
Ariza just tries to do too much, and comes up short. He is a above average player, but his shot selection is poor. He plays the other parts of the game decent, except he gambles on the passing lanes to often. Not bad for the money, but his role should change. I think I would rather have him come off the bench.
Every time Ariza shoots the ball or puts the ball on the floor I can't help but /facepalm. But in all fairness I think this is kinda expected. He's other abilities make him worth the MLE, and I strongly believe that once Yao returns, Ariza's gonna look better. He's trying to do too much and he simply doesn't have the skill set yet (perhaps never) to be the go-to guy. Many people overrated him when he signed with us. I'd give him an entire season before I call him a bust. Afterall he has shown he is capable of going 30+.
What part of the game was your favorite tonight, his 1-7 on 2 point shots or his 0-3 from three? What part of his game made up for that? I can't wait to hear this.
So he is "ok" at everything except offense where he is absolutely horrible? Yep, sounds like a good player to me
His potential to be a big-time player for a championship contender much like this current team with Yao + maybe a mid-level free agent. And for clarification, BIG-TIME does not mean 20/5/5 on 50% shooting. It means making clutch 3s in the playoffs and stealing/disrupting not one, but TWO inbounds passes to seal playoff victories.
Why even bother posting a thread when you start off with "i haven't watched a lot of games".....i dont understand the logic behind that, and it's happened a few teams this season. You can't decide what fits and what doesnt from one game, especially one in which we lost. I believe so far Ariza "hasn't fit" about 12 times this season, not surprisingly, he seems to have fit about 17 times.
Gotcha. So you can't really defend your statement "I watch the games" regarding what Ariza does for this team so now it's about what Ariza might be when the team is stacked with more talent. That's what I figured.
He went 2/11 against the Clippers but the Rockets won anyway. He wasn't fitting in too well that night. If he was an All World defender and shot the ball about 6-7 less times a game you might be on to something.
He's here to replace Ron Artest, not Tmac. He's not going to be a superstar scorer. Yao and whatever free agents we get next year will do that. He's still an excellend defender, slasher, and finisher around the basket. He's 3 point shooting is solid.
