Fans near the bench kept calling his name toward the end of the third/beginning of the fourth and he was smiling and nodding the whole time. You could tell he was getting his ego stroked. I was excited by his play tonight, but this behavior was a bit worrying. The bench was noticing too. Several players were looking at him sideways.
He is right, but he needs to be patient, hopefully Adelman will increase his minutes as he keeps on seeing improvement. Feedback from Keith Jones and the doctors is an important factor in this process.
well.. that's basically your own opinion/conclusion, isn't it? He could be smiling because he had made some progress and played well vs. the games before this one. Or he could simply be smiling and nodding just to let the fans know he appreciated their support. Besides, it's not like he demanded those fans to call his name or whatever. And if he doesn't smile or nod back to the fans to show that he appreciated/acknowledged their support, I'm sure some might criticize him for that. Just go easy on that haterade and chill once in a while. As long as he is making progress and is playing well with the team, there's nothing to worry about. Besides, if he doesn't work out for the Rockets, I'm sure DM will work his magic to improve our team via trade/FA.
I wasn't using binoculars. He was ten feet away. It was apparent to everyone in my group. But I suppose you are entitled to YOUR opinion. No hate here. I was hoping for him to score 30 and finish the 4th too.
No offense, but what do you expect him to do? Tell the fans to shut up? I suppose he would be called an a**hole for doing that then.
I don't know if you can call that getting his ego stroked. I'm sure he enjoyed the appreciation but I don't think it was anything more than a good-natured "thanks for the support" smile and nod. And as for the sideways glances, that definitely could be an issue. I can't imagine how awkward it would be playing with a guy who used to be a superstar one and a half years ago, still expects to eventually reclaim that role on your team, is surrounded by trade rumors, only plays eight minutes a night, has been the center of nearly constant drama for almost a year and probably barely interacts with you. But I don't want to read too much into things tonight, for once I just want to be happy with the intensity, aggression and passion Mcgrady played with tonight, something we really haven't seen from him in a while. Hopefully there'll be more good things to come in the future, and hopefully he maintains his patience with his role.
They kept saying things like, "He Coach, put T-Mac back in!" and he was nodding for about three minutes straight and smiling everytime they said it. I am sure he was happy to hear the support, but he had the look of someone who was thinking or about to say, "That's what I'm talking about!" I am sure y'all can relate to my OPINION. Sometimes the most obvious appearance is the actual one as well. And just to make it clear again, I am not a hater or a fanboy. I don't wish harm or ill to any Rocket. When you sit that close, fans and players interact more than you might expect. Kaman told a heckler to shut up and drink his beer, and this guy was in the bleachers. Chase dropped by and said hello to some kids on the floor, and T-Mac said hi and thanks to some fans wishing him good luck and celebrating his plays. There is a lot of give and take down there. Anyway, I am not trying to make people hate T-Mac or toss out some baseless opinion. Take it for what it's worth, or don't. No sweat off my back, I know what I saw.
All right, I see what you meant there. But still, I'm just glad that people are showing so much love for him after what he had been through. He needs it to boost his confidence.
During the game on fs rockets I heard someone yell "hey douchebag drink your beer" during a freethrow...was that Kaman LOL?
Probably. There was a guy on the first row of the bleachers who was WAY over-served by halftime. He kept calling Baron Tupac and he was really ragging on Kaman and Skinner.
Great Landry quote tonight Rob Mahoney (The Two Man Game/TrueHoop Network): Little known fact: Dirk's elbow was actually fortified by the addition of a few of Carl Landry's teeth. He's faster, stronger, and more powerful than ever before.
I don't know why nobody commented on this post, really interesting observation as far as I'm concerned. My guess is DM is working on a Tmac trade, but got far less than he thought he would get and actually felt insulted in the trade. As for the stress, I imagine someone who takes the GM job seriously would really be under a lot of stress. One mistake you make could set you back a long time. How good would that detroit team be had Dumars picked Melo, Wade or Bosh over Darko? We'll never know....
The haters are already trying to find a reason to hate. There isn't much you can do in 8 minutes and off course he is happy. The fans are cheering for hm, he was slowly improving with every game. I'm very excited by the way we are playing. With Tracy improving every game and Landry on the way to one day being an all-star type player. When some players are down others step up.
I loved the analysis it was spot on. Landry is an all-out beast, I don't think there are many players in the league who produce more value for the amount their getting paid than Landry does.
