This team is so deep! Seriously, this is the best bench in the league: PG - Lowry - Can start for some NBA teams, can draw plenty of fouls, solid defense. SG - Wafer/CBud - Lot of scoring and explosiveness. Very young and only improving. SF - Battier/Ariza/Mac - Whoever, this team is just deep. Any of these guys would be great off the bench whether its defense or scoring. PF - Landry - Sixth man of the year! 16 PPG on 57 percent shooting C - Andersen - Good shooter, fits the system.
It's quality, not quantity my friend. With that many players on the bench, the minutes will have to be spread thin...
I think the Rockets have the best bench by a bunch. With the addition of Wafer and TMac getting healthy we truly do go 11 deep with out a noticeable drop off.
This may be our savior in the question that many people have been asking; can we sustain this style of fastbreak play without wearing out? Being so deep will certainly help us in those regards.
The Rockets avg around 51 ppg off the bench compare that to Denver who's bench is considered one of the best, avgs around 40 ppg, Celtics avg around 38 points off the bench and the Lakers avg. about 36 ppg from the bench. The Rox take advantage of their depth and often wear down the opponent.
Part of that is we have one of the weakest starting lineups in the league. We have to spread the scoring around, and when you consider that Hayes and Battier are in the starting lineup, it makes the bench all that more important.
If that were the case, the Rockets would not have the winning record they have right now. Give them more credit, maybe the bench is THAT good.
our starting lineup isn't where most of our points come from, esp. with Hayes and Battier in there. but that starting unit sets the tone. when Lowry and Landry replace Hayes and Battier, well, thats a whole different kind of intensity. Hayes and Battier and intense, and then the L&L boys, as Worrell likes to call them, well, they take it to you in a different way.
Add Jermaine Taylor to that list. I wasnt high on him at all this whole season till tonight. He played pretty well for his first time of getting decent minutes. Didnt really make any mistakes that I could see, I missed most of the 3rd quarter so im just going by the boxscore though. Definitely can serve as a suitable wing for short minutes off the bench when our rotation players need a break.
True, scoring wise we are not elite but also note alot of it is because of Chuck/Shane even 4 points more a piece and we would be close to matching the Celtics starting lineup. IMO our bench seperates us from being where we are and being, lets say, the Clippers.
I really don't agree here, the starting lineup is ok, and often sets the tone of the game, the point is that the bench players bring a lot of energy and different scoring options. Of course that coach could try to change the starters, but if he does the bench scoring wouldn't be so important.
our bench outscored the Clippers tonight 62-12... with C-Bud out and T-Mac rotting on the bench for three quarters with 10 points...
