ESPN will never regain its reputation after selling everyone on him.

Considering the talent of his draft contemporaries.

I think I might consider calling Darko the biggest bust of all time.

he could be the biggest bust, but what if he goes to europe and plays great.. the guy hasn't been on a decent team, some might say the pistons, yes, but they were loaded and didn't need him, guy is only 24, thats young.. i think if you put him in the right system, he would work out for that team, maybe the spurs, i mean they make matt bonner look good... or even okc, young talented team that has nothing to lose, and a good coach in scott brooks.

You know he's bad when the Knicks sign and play Jonathan Bender ahead of Darko.

You could make the argument. Bowie usually gets the nod when this argument is brought up but I am starting to see some parallels between he and Oden's careers (same teams, no less). But 11/7.5/2 is solid by any generation's standards of play in this league. Obviously, the dude could play -- much like Oden can whenever he's not being hampered by bad luck and injuries.

Conversely, it kind of goes without saying that Darko is garbage. He sucks. He's a flat-out bust in any way, shape or form. And much like with Bowie (MJ, Barkley, Stockton), it looks as if Detroit passed on three potential HOF players as well in order to take him (Wade, Melo, Bosh). It's definitely possible that the latter could/should end up stinging much more.

Speaking plainly from a talent standpoint, I would argue that Darko is on par with Melo, and definitely more talented than Bosh or Dwade. He has mental issues, and that's something that's hard to spot by watching grainy film clips of him dunking and a two-day workout of an 18 year old.

His lack of production is a mixture of him being destroyed by Larry Brown, being on sorry teams, and his own Rasheed Wallace-like disinterest in playing the game. Keep in mind Darko is only 24 years old, although it seems he's been here forever, ordinarily it would only be his 2nd/3rd season in the league, or maybe even his rookie year if he stayed all four years in college. Wade is already 26/27 yrs old for comparison's sake.

I'm not sure. Darko doesn't seem to have had any greater skill set than Raef LaFrentz--who was probably just as athletic coming into the league.

Oh brother! You are free to be dead wrong. If Darko is "definitely more talented than Bosh or Dwade", then the moon is made of cheese.

No way he's as talented as those guys. A good comparison is Chris Kaman from the same 2003 draft, as far as where Darko at LEAST SHOULD be in the league right now. Their per-36 min numbers are kinda semi-similar from the past 3 years.

Instead of saying Wade as the 26/27 example, again can use Kaman. Kaman does have the maturity edge. A 24 year old Kaman was only a little better than 24 year old Milicic.

This is probably the highlight of his scrub NBA career. His retirement.

Um most of you guys are probably confusing production/skillset with talent. I'm talking about raw stuff, the kind of **** you were born with, not what you developed over the years. Looking at the guy's stats and saying he isn't more talented than a stiff like Kaman is just wrong because work ethic+bbiq>talent in this league. Andersen is way less talented than Stromile Swift, but Swift is playing in China while Andersen is a solid bench player in a playoff team.

Go ahead and watch Darko workouts and mixes on youtube. The guy was amazing-7 footer, ran like a gazelle, has soft hands, some (albeit raw) post moves and very, very fluid. A lot of Cav fans were actually thinking he was a better pick than LBJ, IMHO if Darko was the hometown kid and LBJ was the foreigner Feigan would have probably picked him first. There was a reason Darko went ahead of an NCAA god like Melo, his talent and potential was just that undeniable. Too bad his mental weakness and luck of the draw prevented him from ever reaching it.
