Once again, Salmons would be the best fit for us. He only has one year left on his deal after this season. He would be the begining and end of any trade talk with the Bulls.
Bulls are a possibility to trade with (Salmons have to be in the package), but teams like the Wizards, Pistons, Clippers and Sixers are also teams we could trade with. We could trade T-Mac for other "good players" like Butler, Hamilton, Prince, Davis, ...
More speculation from the minds of the national media, who do not have a finger on the pulse of the goings on of the Houston Rockets. Kindly note, that Jonathan Feigen and the fine folks of the Houston Chronicle, as well as Jason Friedman from Rockets.com are the voices that should be heard regarding this matter.
LOL Deng and Miller ?... we would be trading ourselves right into mediocre, if theirs no star player, upcoming star player or high draft pick no way would I even consider a trade.
You make a good point. And yet, with Deng off their books, wouldn't they be able to add a $9-10 mil per year player with better health (better injury history) than Deng? Wouldn't they also be that much closer to maybe signing a Carlos Boozer, make-Wade-happy type of player?
make no mistake about it, chicago will be active. they are arguably the most disappointing team in the L. and they lack another playmaker next to derrick rose (who's been disappointing in that area himself). chicago will go for mcgrady. it will depend on if a deal works for both teams.
While I like the writings of both JF's, they both ride the company plane and are not going to say anything that the organization does not want the general public to hear. DD
After last night's game this had to be corrected. I would love to have Deng on our squad but not with that contract of his. Chicago does have other pieces, however, that make me think they can offer a deal that makes everyone happy.
I watch a lot of Bulls games, and trust me... the Rockets do not need anyone they have on their roster. ESPECIALLY Deng or Salmons. - Deng is coming off an injury, but he's looking like a ghost out there. He really doesn't have a defined role on offense, nothing special on defense and is essentially lost on the court. It could be the coaching, but do you want to pay $11mi per year to find out? - Salmons shoots from three. Salmons shoots from just inside the three. That's it. He takes the worst percentage shots, and does nothing else. No passing, no driving, no nothing. If you need someone to take lots of bad shots, here's your guy. Oh, you wanted him to play defense too? - Tyrus has already been discussed. He is Stromile 2.0. One incredible play per every 15 min of being completely lost and unfocused. - Rose is a fixture. He's not going anywhere, and he's not even being utilized the right way. For some reason, Chicago decided an unproven rookie coach would be perfect to develop their rookie phenom, playing the most difficult position in the game. This was yet another bad idea. Now he doesn't even play defense. - Miller would have already retired if he hadn't been traded closer to his home state of Indiana. Expect a 1 year rental, and now he's even slower than you probably remember. There is nothing else here for you. Pargo? old Hinrich (LOL)? Trust me, this is not the trade partner you're looking for. Thank goodness Morey is on the job, and will play his cards close and wait for the best move. I'm excited because I have no idea what he's going to pull off, but I just know this team will get even better because of it. Our general manager is the all-star of this franchise.
OK, I trust you. Now, trust me with who is the right trade partner for the Rockets? If they are looking for a player, a future, and still cap relief does that spell Eolves? Their two big expirings + Sessions + Rubio workks for me. They could/would become relevant in the lakes region and then decide how to move forward in the summer with McGrady or his contract 'value'. Who else makes real sense? In both directions? This is an honest, not a nasty, question.
I actually forgot to mention the one bright spot on Chicago's team, and that's Joakim Noah. He's lanky and still raw, but doggone it if that kid doesn't get after it every possession. He's a winner, he hates to lose and gets emotionally involved in the game. If he had any skills besides rebounding and blowing dunks by trying to hard, he would be scary. Noah is the one Bulls asset we could use, simply because he can also play at the 5 spot, and he plays with heart. Nobody else on this Chicago team is anyone you want with you in a basketball foxhole. That said, some of you want to blow all your skeeball tickets on the first calculator watch, frisbee or stuffed troll you can get. I telling you...save those tickets for that sweet BMX, or at least the handheld Donkey Kong.
This is a tough one, because there are so many moving parts. What kind of Yao are we getting back? How do we re-integrate him? Does McGrady by some miracle become a contributing asset again? How will injuries, egos and emerging talent shape the landscape for trades in the next month? Someone is going to have a motivation or desperation one month from now, that we may not be able to predict. That said, I would say Chris Bosh is the best and easiest answer here. I think he could fit our system, and fill a long term need for the Rockets with or without Yao Ming. Other than that, I would love to have the rights to the mythical RickyRubio or the legend of the potential of Anthony Randolph. I just don't know what will be out there, or how we can best play it to our advantage. But that's why I'm not the GM. And thank your stars for it. Trust me.
We all need to appreciate that the chances of McGrady netting us an expiring plus a guy of Deng's stature is incredibly low. Chicago wouldn't be this desperate to make their team even worse in the short term. I do believe that they will chase McGrady or Jermaine O'Neal in order to get into the 2010 derby. But the offer won't be Miller & Deng. It will be Miller & Hinrich. McGrady simply isn't interesting enough that Chicago will move its only real scorer aside from Rose.
