FREE AGENT UPDATE: Rumors surfaced this week that Cuttino Mobley had reached an agreement with the Rockets. Not only would that be a violation of a league rules and an illogical thing for Mobley to do, it is clearly untrue. The Rockets can pay Mobley no more than 108 percent of next season's average salary, a package that could be about $4 million a season. After making a qualifying offer, they can match any offer up to that amount. Other teams with cap space, however, could blow that offer away. It would make no sense for Mobley to not give them the chance. Mobley, meanwhile, has had to beg off several July events he would have liked to attend because he might have to be free to visit teams, indicating that he has not made up his mind. None of this could be considered much of a revelation. But it does indicate how unfounded and illogical the wishful thinking that Mobley is locked up in Houston is. It was on aol. It is from the Sports writers direct. This was the hyperlink aol://4344:919.psxhrock.1033783.610215712 I went on their web site and I couldn't find it on there but you can look it up on aol. Hope that helps.
