so i'm really bored and i can't wait for the season to start up, and i check the summer league scores every day. when i'm looking at the box scores, i see players from texas and players who got alot of press when they entered the draft, but now will be lucky to get a roster spot. like darren kelly. i really liked him at UT, but now he can't even get run in a summer league game. (he's on the nets' team, for those of you with lives). he got a DNP-CD last night. ouch. and gee gervin, from my beloved coogs. not getting much of any PT for the spurs. i think he played for a minor league team the last couple of years. i know these players don't have the right stuff to make it in the NBA, and i guess i'm not surprised to see them struggle. but i still wish them the best, and hope they make a living playing basketball. then there's ousmane cisse. remember him? now he's trying out for the sixers, and has played all of 5 minutes for them so far. and it's funny to me that, after all the fanfare he received when he first got to the league, wang zhizhi just quietly popped up on the warriors summer league team. i guess americans only have enough attention span for one chinese player at a time. has anyone heard anything about george williams getting on a summer league roster? i haven't seen his name anywhere. whoever told him to come out early needs to be flogged. UH will miss him next year. so this is just a general thread to discuss summer league rosters or whatever.
Im a big fan of Darren Kelly. It will be very tough for him to make it on a team, but I wish I could just stick him on a team just so that he would be in the NBA.
re: darren kelly yeah, and it's really frustrating to me that he isn't getting to play, b/c the nets need a backup point, so wtf? let him play. they didn't draft a point, either. i guess they are hoping one just falls in their lap.
