Grammer takes 'Rat' role
NEW YORK (AP) -- Kelsey Grammer is taking a second job in television -- as an animated rat.

The "Frasier" star's production company is making a new cartoon, "Gary the Rat," that will debut on TNN next year. Grammer will provide the voice of the lead character.

Gary is described as a New York attorney so evil that one day he wakes up and he's no longer human.

"He becomes the most sought-after lawyer once it is discovered he is actually a rat," Grammer said Tuesday.

The cable network is hoping to launch a prime-time night of cartoons next year. It has acquired the rights to "The Ren & Stimpy Show" and hopes to persuade its creator to make more episodes. Also in production is "Stripperella," a cartoon from "Spider-Man" creator Stan Lee that features Pamela Anderson as a stripper who moonlights as a superhero.

TNN is the former Nashville Network that, since its purchase by Viacom, has repositioned itself as a network for young men. It is debuting two other new series in the fall: "Oblivious," a game show where contestants don't even know they're playing, and "Slam Ball," a basketball game played on trampolines

bah- the CNN ticker said they WERE going to have new shows
don't know which is true

Stripperella... what the hell are they thinking?

If they can get new episodes of Ren And Stimpy, that would freaking awesome.

Don't ask me why, but I have the entire "Log for girls" commercial memorized verbatim...

What's the matter, Suzi? What's the matter, Jill?
"We're sick of our toys, we've had our fill!"
"Dollies are boring"
"And I hate to cook"
"WE WANT A NEW TOY!"
So let's have a look

It's LOG for girls!

"I'll comb her hair"
"And I'll do her makeup"
"Look at LOG now! She's beautiful!"

Log rolls down stairs, falls over in pairs
Rolls over your neighbor's dog
It's great for a snack, and sits on your back
It's LOG LOG LOG!
It's LOOOOOOG! LOOOOOOOOOOOG
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood!
It's LOOOOOOOOG! LOOOOOOOOOOG!
It's better than bad, it's good!
Everyone wants a log
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
Everyone needs a log
log log log log log log!

I loved Ren and Stimpy, but to me, Rocco's Modern Life was the greatest cartoon ever made outside The Simpsons.

My kids and I used to watch R&S every week and just laugh our tails off. It even inspired us to get a Chihuahua when time came to get a dog. I wanted to name her "Ren" but we settled for "Cookie."

The original Nicktoons Block on sNick kicked ass. You had Rugrats @ 7, Rocko @ 7:30, Ren & Stimpy ("You Stuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid Cat!!!") @ 8 and then Are you Afraid of the Dark at 8:30.

Rocko and Ren & Stimpy were great. And don't forget those incredibly detailed closeups in Ren & Stimpy. Some of those were absolutely disgusting. The Log and other fake commercials were hilarious and don't forget "Powdered Toast Man". One of the best R & S episodes was the one where they try to open up Lincoln's head at the Lincoln Memorial to try to find the "treasure" inside.

Oh and a note, Viacom owns TNN & Nick so in essence TNN is just shifting programming.
