Trading Shane right now at this point in his career would make me cry inside. Period. Guys who don't love him need to stop watching SC highlights.

shane is a great defender, maybe top 5 in the whole league, the most importamt factor for our team defence system.and always acts as a vocal leader to inspire his teammates.

along with him, both lowry and chase could develop their defence ability,I do hope the manager could keep him and act as a tutor for our young players,

you know I don't want to get into another battier argument, I mean the guy gets a thread of a massive love fest after giving up 38 in a loss. its surreal at this point

the only irritating thing is the

"man, I understand basketball, these other fools who don't appreciate battier don't, don't you understand basketball like me" posts.

Couple of questions here (I didn't see the game)...

Was Shane the defender for every one of those 38 points?

Did Shane defend any other player with the ball on a switch or rotation?

How many of those points were at the charity stripe on a close, if not bad, call?

I'd venture a guess to all of those questions, but I didn't see the game... Chances are however, my guesses would be less willfully naive than the "giving up 38 in a loss" phrase you lead us to believe was the case.

    ...Just sayin.' ;)

I only saw bits and pieces,

but this is my problem, shane is not an elite defender. he's not what ben wallace used to be, he's not kevin garnett. he's a good team defender, if you want to sit here and make these absurd arguments that this guy is untouchable, then i don't give a crap how many points melo scored on shane, and how many he scored on tmac, he obviously scored some on shane because shane is the starter.

    its ridiculous

Yeah, the media members who had Battier in the top 5 for DPOY the last 3 seasons understand basketball. Those coaches who have never put him on All-Defensive 1st team, and only twice on the 2nd team, don't understand basketball...
