When the Rockets do it...i'll comment and be like "ooo the Refs missed that one...he flopped!" But am i going to complain abt it? NO, cuz there's a crap load more calls that we DON'T get. So, of course, when other teams do it, i'll get pissed and call the Refs blind a$$ clowns. So does that make me a hypocrite? Sure...

I pretty much feel like Bull. I don't like it when the Rockets do it to a point. Sometimes it is whats needed when the refs are being NBA refs. Bring back the replacement refs from the preseason. They should have let these pieces of garbage rot on the picket line.

    This.

Unfortunately, the embellishing is often necessary to get the refs to notice the contact. Ideally, that wouldn't be necessary either. But I can live with it.

When I have a real problem with it is when there is no foul to begin with and they flop. That just drives me crazy. I feel like Scola is the only player on our team that regularly does this. Lowry and Battier may on occasion as well.

I hate it, I wish the NBA would fine players for flopping.

I think there are acceptable levels of what might be considered flopping. I dont mind so much the flops in which a foul has been committed but a slight flop or exageration is used to get the referees attention. However, the flops that drive me insane are the ones wher there is no foul AT ALL, not even close, and players fall over, or kick their body out or whatever, u shud be given a tech if ur caught flopping like this.

There a 3 types of floppers

The "I just got shot" floppers
The "Im frustrated so Im going to flop" floppers
And The "Im trying to flop" floppers

Flopping just ruins everything. It takes fairness away from the game. In the 2nd half of the Denver game, Landry got offensive fouls off flops (one from J.r Smith if I can remember), was fouled by Kenyon Martin but called for a foul for getting fouled and The Rockets shot their first free throws in the 4th quarter with 30 seconds left in the game. We could have won that game had it not been for that bad officiating. Seriously, it games like that that I just don't feel like watching basketball at all.

Also who could forget the Portland game where Bayless fell down and they called a foul??

I'll be honest, I hate it when Scola flops. He needs to stop that crap.

Lowry flops? This is new for me, he may try to draw a foul by bit of acting, but I do not think he flops, he may try to fly sometimes.

    QFT.

This is a flop, what Bayless does on Lowry.

Now, did it look like Lowry flopped on Bayless' elbow? Not really, just that he sold the call. If he was elbowed in the face and didn't fall, they probably would've let them continue playing during that game.

Lowry and Battier take full charges, and the flop comes from them exaggerating the distance they slide once they hit the ground. Scola is a flopper but nothing like Kirilenko (round 1, game 1 2008 comes to mind)

I hate flopping, Rockets or not. But let's not confuse making smart positioning and taking a good charge with flopping. Some people automatically assume that taking charge is flopping and think Battier and Hayes are floppers.

Also, I think there is a difference between fabricating a foul and making sure the refs see a real foul.

I feel that the rockets don't flop like other teams do the flopping that makes me upset is just everytime player gets breezed by they fall down. When a 250 to 300 pound centers are falling across the floor when they take a charge against a 170 pound guard is irritating. *shaking head*

The greatest flopper for me was Karl Malone. He drove me nuts whenever he drove the lane with both hands swinging like windmills and flopping. Stockton was next followed closely by Divac. The current crop of floppers are not even close but I believe it is up to the refs to study the habits of the regular floppers and make the correct call.

I've always disliked Scola's flopping and wishes he would just stop.

Flopping is unacceptable no matter who does it, even if they are in a Rockets uniform.

Unfortunately the inherent side effect of studying players who flop is creating a bias, and refs dont really want to do that. Granted, I think every fan in the NBA except for the Jazz and or certain players(Scola, Przybilla, Varejao, etc) would appreciate a study and crackdown. It would be a slippery slope for the NBA. Refs are supposed to be unbiased, and treat every call as if it's the first one. Previous calls should not influence the next and what not. There shouldn't need to be a makeup call.

When I was an umpire doing little league baseball, the first thing we were taught was to see the call, and then make the call. I really hate anticipation calls. I mean, officials learn that at the earliest levels(gotta start at the bottom) so what happens as they move up?
