According to W-s journal, hornets are looking for a sign and trade. I think we should have a good chance of getting him. What do you all think? ------------------
No, I dont think we have a chance, or really a need for him. We need big people, not guards. ------------------ Rockets games are like a box of chocolates, you never know whacha your gonna get.
He is a great defensive player, and can play 2 or 3.I think he is exactly what we need at small forward. ------------------
Whos minutes would you take away from, Cat, Shandon, Walt? Eddie would cost way too much and kill any chances for a big free agent next year. What would our front line be then? We need size..period! ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
Some facts, EJ is cat's roll model, and cuttino looks up to him. he also is from philly area. Who's min would I take? simple,WALT'S cuttino can get his min's by playing 2 and some one. We won't get a big free agent next year? Eddie is a big fish, lets talk about today not next year. ------------------
Fransic3, He might have all the stats but he lacks the intangibles to be a super star. ------------------
Ummm, since when do we not NEED a player like Eddie Jones? What team doesn't need a player like Eddie Jones? LA has Kobe....Philly has the Answer....why not EJ in Houston? A superstar? Who cares, the guy is a top 5 SG in the league!?!?! I am not sure I understand why we shouldn't go after him because he is not a superstar. Enlighten me? Are we merely looking for superstars to sign this offseason, even though we are over the cap? Interesting theory! If anyting Hakola, Eddie HAS the intangibles to be a superstar. He may lack in other areas, like the fierce competitive nature displayed by superstars, but he certainly possesses intangibles. He hustles, plays remarkable defense, led the league in steals at 2.67 per contest, he rebounds well, finishes well, passes well....anything I missed? ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back! I would take EJ. But what would we do with SA? I think we need to get bigger players. We have all of our talent in the little guys. DaDakota ------------------
If the Rockets are to acquire Eddie Jones, that will basically push Cuttino Mobley out the door. Plus it would likely take Cato and the 9th pick at the least to get it done, and the Rockets would have Francis-Jones-Anderson and very little up front. Also, the Heat likely will make a play for Jones starting the package with Jamal Mashburn and Clarence Weatherspoon. Jones first choice appears to be to play for a contendor, and Riles loves defensive minded guards. Also, there is no way Eddie is going to be able to be a full time SF. There is a reason Jones and Bryant could not co-exist in LA. Jones is just far to thin at 200 pounds to play the 3 position. I would much rather add pieces to the frontcourt than add another guard to the mix. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Francis 40 min PG Mobley 25 min SG 8 min PG E. Jones 23 min SG 17 min SF S. Anderson 31 min SF Moochie Norris: 48 min. on the bench, unless someone gets injured I'd give them Cato, the 9th pick and change and draft any guy who is a good shot blocker at center (maybe get that Venson Hamilton guy back over from Europe). Can't be that much worse than Cato. Cato never really confirmed his great preseason performance this season. [This message has been edited by Det The Threat (edited June 05, 2000).]
Defense???? Excuse me, but last playoff series I saw had him being torched by the 76ers left and right. And all those bricks down the stretch??? Yeah, 2 point whatever steals is a pretty number. But that is because he plays the passing lanes. What happened when he faced Iverson in the playoffs? Iverson doesn't pass and he got LIT UP by him. On the ball defense is just pathetic. Nah, he and his 8 million dollars can stay right where they are. ------------------ Live Rocketball. Breathe Rocketball. Die with Rocketball. I agree with Almu...EJ is not worth the kind of money that he is asking for...Also, he always disappears during playoffs... ------------------
It is also good to know that hornets are not asking for much in return. As it is right now,it is jones for ron mercer would do. ------------------
Jones for Mercer cannot happen. Two free agents cannot be exchanged for each other in the same trade. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
If we play Mobes at the 1, then we'd be taking away Mooch's minutes. And Shandon also plays at the sf position, so Eddie would be taking time from him also. Both Shandon and Mobes need at least 30 minutes a game...No way is there any room for Eddie Jones. Like the other people in this thread have already said: Jones co$t$ too much, there is not much room for him, and the main thing- we need BIG MEN. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club

We don't really have much to offer that would interest Charlotte, chances are he'll end up in Miami (sign and trade), failing that Chicago or Orlando. ------------------
