I find it very interesting that some one could criticise Yao's efforts on rehabbing... name me a half dozen nba players works harder than him, injured or not? For gods sake, he keeps shooting the basketball a year before his expected return date... No one is doing job-related work 24/7. I'm pretty sure you don't stay in your workplace and work until 11 pm then go home and sleep. Allow Yao to do things he feels that's important as long as he is working hard on he's rehab as well, is that too much to ask?
Can you even call it a firing? You just said the guy had health issues and was reassigned as senior consultant, not to mention, is still getting paid a salary. I suddenly have craving for duck.
Can an admin nuke this guy's rep please? and for your argument, I don't see him as a defensive liability. He is a great man-to-man defender, and he's one of the hardest working people in the game. You're worse than most of the Tracy haters here, even
Yeah, that make sence. I dont think Yao is gonna concentrate on playing balls rather than doing business even if he comes back. Whatever to me, wish he stay healthy and back to the court soon.
Lucas did score 30 points in the season opener, a 1 pt overtime loss to a playoff team from last season, which is an improvement for this team given that they went 6-44 last year. Their other American player, 23-year-old Garret Siler, also contributed, by getting 14 rebounds and blocking 7 shots. I'd keep an eye on Siler. A 7 footer who can actually walk and chew gum at the same time. He was an training camp invite for the Hawks before getting cut in preseason. Might have a future sometime down the road.
Update: The Sharks are currently 3-2. They lost the first 2 game of the season by a combined 3 points (one of the game was overtime), but have won their last 3. John Lucas is doing very well sharing the backcourt with team captain 6'3'' PG Liu Wei, having been the team's lead scorer in most of the games. Yao Ming went to a few games, both home and road ones, while in China. Each of these games were sold out. Yao has returned to the U.S. but the team's latest home game still had pretty good attendance (2,500 in a 5000 capacity arena, doesn't sound all that impressive, but last year's 6-44 squad often had only a few hundred fans in the stands). The team has an NBA style promotion: free pizza if Sharks wins a home game and scores 100. The goal was reached for the first time in the latest home win, fan got quite excited chanting "Pizza! Pizza!"
