Your right. Not all trades work out, as you just mentioned a couple. But I don't see Morey and Adelman making a move that will hurt us in the long run. That's why they get paid the big bucks, not the fans. They've been working on the Tracy situation long enough not pick up garbage for the sake of moving him. Why keep a guy that does not fit what the Rockets are doing or can't go at the same speed or level as the rest? For all Tracy's fans. Wouldn't Tracy play better and feel better playing in a offense that he is better suited for? He clearly won't be able to get up and down the court as fast as the other guards. Iso and half court play is better suited for him. Your right again, this is not a video game. Real players age and bodies break down. Right now the whole NBA is watching Tracy, Knowing the Rockets are gonna pull the trigger for the best deal. It's not "if", it's "when".
but it's important to look at the big picture rather than at tmac alone...maybe he was around the 3 pt line because that was the plan, shane and ariza spend a lot of time around there too...and scola outran tmac, but scola has been known to outrun the whole team at times, he can be seen finishing breaks....so i wouldn't put too much weight on those events. We cant expect him to go full speed his first game, he has to keep clearing his psychological hurdles, he cleared one just to be able to rehab it, then to be able to practice and workout, now he must clear another to be able to let when he plays the real games.
Point is to break down a huuuge expiring (23) into smaller expirings, thus making a future trade, which would be the real payoff here, more achievable. If you're actually looking to trade TMAC in a talent for talent trade straight up, you're not gonna get much there.
I think there's a lot of dependencies right now. Morey is a smart guy - he's going to keep his options open. If T-mac is really healthy but it's clear he's less effective without the ball in his hands...and thus doesn't mess with Adelman's offense - then I think he will get traded. Not all players fit into all systems. Nash is a great example. You can't play Nash with Shaq. T-mac best ability is to dribble around pick and rolls and drive and find a spot up shooter if the lane gets clogged up. That's his game. That's what made him a great player for many years especially under JVG. You can ask T-mac to change his game, and he may very well do that, but it still might not work out...not because of attitude, just because of the reality of his talents and how they mesh. But DM is going to see what happens and see how it plays out. Interest in T-mac can only increase over time. And T-mac's value can only elevate from here. As the trade deadline approaches, teams that are desperate for cap relief will start talking to us. And teams that have an interest in a scorer and seeing T-mac playing well will also express interest. Morey is going to look at ALL the options, including keeping T-mac, and pick the best one. I doubt anything has been pre-decided at this point.
Smartest post I've read in a long time. It amazes me people still take these TMac articles to heart. Wasn't it Clutch's ever-reliable source that declared TMac wouldn't play another game in Houston prior to this month? Guys the only sources we ought to be trusting are Adelman/Morey. Whether TMac stays with the Rockets this season or not, it's all for the benefit of the team first and TMac second.
I've only been saying that showcasing his game and body for a trade is the smart thing to do for months. That is, of course, if the plan is to actually trade him. At this point I wouldn't rule anything out.
Tru Dat. Tim Grover has the benefit of building a great reputation, but we have to remember, he's tmac's client. It's not in his best interest to say tmac isn't ready...
well first he wouldnt play as a rocket again. Now he is only playing because they want to showcase him for a trade. It will be hilarious if past trade deadline he is still a rockets... then what will they write?
"A person with knowledge of the Rockets plans" could be literally anyone. Most people on this board will tell you they have knowledge of the Rockets plans. It's not like CBS is a power player in breaking sports stories either... particularly as a "blog post". My point is that this is pointless speculation from a worse source. I wont pretend to have a window into Morey's mind, and I don't think the author of this article does either.
I'm beginning to think these online articles from CBS, Yahoo! are about as reliable as the articles from SINA..
I think they really donĀ“t want to admit they made a wrong judgement so will continue true to their story in the probability that a trade really can occur....but yeah i doubt excluding morey, adelman or les that even someone within the organization can back up 100% what they will do concerning this situation.
It's important to remember that a lot of people claim to be in the know simply to have an audience. People who leak info do it because they want to...and what they know may have been legit but it might be old as well. I am sure Morey at one point didn't want T-mac back and expressed that. But Morey isn't going to make an emotional decision at the end of the day. He's too practical of a man. And the practical thing to do is just see how everything unfolds. And talk to lots of other GM's.
