I think you'd be surprised how many players in this league could average 17 points if they were allowed to take 17 shots.
That has nothing to do with hitting open jump shots. Didn't he learn to catch and shoot, pull up and shoot? Come on, just admit he is doing through a slump where he is reminding us of Rafer. he needs to stop shooting jumps shoots and try to attack the damn bucket and get to the free throw line.
glad to see that t-mac is back, budinger play well in his first start of the season,a double double, brooks too with 23 points and 10 assists, hope t-mac will have more playing time in the future games
Morey has hit the jackpot with Chase Budinger. I dont think organization had any idea that he would be this productive. On McGrady- good to see him back. I was really shocked with the crowd reaction. I fully anticipated that there would be some booing. I was even concerned that it might get ugly. I guess all the McGrady haters stayed home tonight. It was good to see McGrady move and actually play some defense. He still has his quickness and once he rounds into shape he is going to help this team immensely. I think you are crazy if you think McGrady will not make this team better. On the basketball court, McGrady is great to play with. McGrady has all the ability to thrive in Adelman's system. I know he has the history of a ball stopper and a chucker. However, that is not going to fly with this team. Expect him to blend in continually get better.
I bet you nobody's going to leave Ariza wide open like they did Rafer either because he's proven he's a good SPOT UP jump shooter. But that's the problem. Half of the time, he isn't catching and shooting open jump shots. He's trying to create for himself off the dribble, when he can't dribble. Rafer gave us four seasons of terrible sub 40% shooting. Ariza has given us what, 20 games? I think people's expectations have probably risen too much after we've won some games. My point is, to stop dwelling so much on his shooting his game has been solid everywhere else.
The only reason I'm being hard on Ariza on the forums is for the fans who will bash a Rafer Alston, bash a David Anderson but make excuses for Ariza.
maybe its because Ariza is clearly being forced into a role he wasn't meant to be in. Ariza seems to be a 3rd option type of guy, and once Yao/Tmac comes back full time he'll have someone else to draw the attention from him just like before. Rafer was brought in as our starting pg, he played like crap. Andersen was brought in as an impact-player but performed subpar his first few games. Ariza was clearly a player who was brought not just now, but also with the future in mind. At the midlevel he's clearly a steal, so its kinda' hard to hate on a player when he's not exactly breaking the bank.
I am thinking Ariza is more likely hitting the "Rookie Wall". Although he is not a rookie. But his career MPG is only 21 minutes. Now he is playing 38.7 MPG. And he also put a lot of effort on defense end. That is the only thing I complaint about RA, he always put heavy minutes on the player he trust. I would rather see Rockets play like the 11/2 Jazz game with the minutes evenly spread between players with 8 players score double digits.
Just like Ariza, who has to play a new role, Anderson has to adjust toa differnet schedule, different type of athletics anc physical play. He has a much tougher task then what Ariza has.
Standing ovation when he went on. Big gasps when he hit his first 3. Crowd was really nice IMO, and I felt really good for t-mac. He was smiling like a 8-year old on Christmas morning when he went back to the bench.
Do yall remember this? When Aaron scored 11 points in 27 seconds......Give him some time, and he can be a star http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H08QlVTud24&feature=related
