Maybe because the man is coming off microfracture surgery and is 7 months removed from an actual NBA game.

Just watch tracy's body language while he is moving around you will see he still favors his left knee.

i thought he looked good moving around..much better than last year...

i did notice on a couple of transition plays..it appeared tmac was waiting for the ball so he could walk it up like old time..but the rest of the team ran by him and score even before he made it up to half court..lol

if scola is beating you down court..there is still work to be done..

but it was good to see him moving and jumping more freely..he looked
    pretty slim and trim too..

I'm a pretty harsh mcgrady critic.. but now you're just making us look bad. Overall I think he's done. I just don't understand how we can integrate him, and i doubt we would be able to utilize him unless he was willing to come off the bench the rest of the season

mcgrady is too talented to just have expectations of coming off the bench for the rest of the season. i really dont think it will be hard once he gets up to speed

olympic athletes use every competition leading up tot he olympics as practice. Even once in the olympics they use the qualifying games/races/etc as practice. Runner may perform under their standards in the semifinals, pacing themselves for the finals.

In basketball we have a preseason, to get you ready for the season, then the season is used to get ready for the playoffs. tmac trained enough to participate in regular season games, just like an olympin does just to get into the qualifiers. From there they both still continue to imorove and practice in hope of reaching their peak performance for the "real" tests, that being an olympic final or the nba playoffs.

I don't want to see McGrady "expire", maybe the contract, but I was excited to see him out there again. It looked really weird though after watching how the Rockets have been playing all season. I'm trying to imagine him with regular minutes on this team, but having trouble. If RA can figure it out though, I think he would really elevate this team and give it a fighting chance to do some damage. He just has to figure out how to integrate Tmac, while still getting the production from all the other players and not killing their minutes.

To see Brooks make all those drives while Tmac was on the court was an interesting changing of the guard type of moment (not really, but I was impressed with Brooks.

And it is going to stay that way. I do disagree with you on the fact that he can try harder to change that, but the truth is he can't so don't really see how you can fault him. People are under the misillusion that he will turn into an all star. They will be in for a rude awakening.

I'll choose my words very carefully so there are no misunderstandings.

I'm aware that the olympics is different than playing professional sports. I was merely making the point that by increasing the intensity of practices, an athlete can improve his in-game performance.

I'm also aware that teams don't go 100% in practice, but if McGrady were as ready as he implied, he would've looked nothing like he did today.

Maybe so, but there are steps athletes can take to greatly minimize the degree of rust (i.e. plyometrics/agility training).

body language in this case doesnt mean much...comingback from an injury, even after practicing, you're going to have a psychological block to a certain extent once you get in a real game. It can be something as simple as shaking your leg, or moving it, making sure nothing is wrong, or favorign it. The real indicator is how you move without thinking, your sudden movements that don't allow you to psych yourself out. Tmac did fine in those instances.

You've experienced that I've probably never played sports? Really? How exactly does that work?

I'm guessing some sort of existential out of body experience? Does that sound about right?

Yes you can improve your in-game performance, and i think mcgrady looked better than he did at any point of last season, even based off of the seven mins he played, but i think u should judge him to how he looked the first time he stepped onto a court to shoot a basketball, and how much he has improved since the surgery.
