What a load of BS... The Pistons game is a perfect opportunity to activate Tmac, but Adelman refuses to give the OK. I just don't understand why we letting one of our prime investments go to waste.

I've probably been studying too much of late, but according to microeconomic theory, Tmac's contract is a sunk cost: it has already been incurred and cannot be recovered. As such, we do not benefit in any way by NOT playing him. There is nothing to gain by under-utilizing the resources at our disposal.

Ultimately, I believe Adelman is a good coach, but sometimes his methods are beyond my comprehension...

PS: This is why Tmac is being voted into the All Star game--fans just to see what he is capable of. If McGrady does get voted in, can Adelman prevent him from playing?

Winning basketball also means that sometimes you accept the devil because he brings something to the table you can't get otherwise.

It's painfully obvious that our team, as hard working and fun to watch as they can be - really need a playmaker outside of Aaron Brooks.

Yes T-mac is a prima donna - but if he's willing to buy in, you take the devil you know over the devil you don't. In other words, why trade away a great playmaker for the unknown?

You haven't been paying attention. Insurance is paying his salary for every game he misses.

I agree with you Sweet, if the ultimate goal is to win the championship this year, if it is to build for the future (which is what i think they are doing and Morey and Adelman have said as much), then you let the devil sit, stew and rot.

Because a higher draft pick and development time for guys that will be here next year are more important....

    Do you agree?

I stand corrected. So if we sit him the entire year, we save $23 million?

Correct. However, McGrady could file a grievance if he felt he was healthy enough to play and the Rockets said he wasn't. Than an independent arbiter would have to make the determination rather than the Rockets medical staff. This seems to be unlikely to happen though.

jonathan feigen reiterated in his blog again that tmac is "medically cleared to play."

so if he files a grievance right now, chances are he would win easily.

i think tracy wants to act like the good guy, follow to what the rockets have to say, and will play when they say so. when he does play, he'll try to play well and earn another contract elsewhere.

    tmac shouldnt play if

    1. he's not ready
    2. he's not at least solid, in terms of chemistry, with the starting or backup squad
    3. we're playing back to backs

this isnt exactly the best time to bring him back. if we dont come out of this poorly scheduled month with at least a .500 record, that could have rippling effects for the rest of the season. dropping tmac in the middle of it could go either way.

Based on what I've seen, McGrady obviously isn't ready to play. (physically)

But he is moving in the right direction.

This is the reason he is being held out.......imho

I think you're right. No one really wins if he files a grievance. That's why I think it won't happen.

I think he knows about their intentions so he's keeping it quiet along with them. In the past, he didn't even know their intentions so yeah.

I doubt he moves because Les loves him and as we learned from the most recent all star balloting, he is still a top tier talent in the fans' eyes. There aren't too many players (4-5 max) who command the amount of ticket sales as T-Mac does. So at the end of the day, it is not a good business decision to move him IMO.

How can you stump someone with knowledge when you didn't witness the championship years which is relevant to YOUR point?

Apparently you didn't even witness the 2005 playoffs because baker and lue didn't even play in that series. Lue was traded before the playoffs.

Who cares who started the discussion, you are continuing it. You posted the rosters for both teams.

So Hakeem TRUSTING in his teammates is where the difference lies. McGrady doesn't.

BTW I know this is before your time but Dream made it to the finals in 86. Just saying.

    you sound like me dude.

I told you didn't I? There's this perception that Jordan made the Finals before Dream. Jordan was playing with the Bulls at the time.

    Rockets History is important.

A grievance on what grounds? We don't play him? Than why hasn't Cook filed a grievance? The Rockets organization has no obligation to play McGrady if they think that playing him will be detrimental to the organization.

I loved that 86 team. I feel a little cheated because of Sampson's injuries and it snowing in the locker room :(

Higher draft picks are out of the equation. The Rockets aren't tanking, and the best pick they will get is one that an 8 seed warrants....meaning 20th or so. My question to you is this: Why would Tracy McGrady hinder the development of our young guys? Would he really hurt the development of Aaron? Aaron plays well with him. We ALL know Trevor would benefit substantially. Would he hurt Landry's development when he didn't hurt Yao's? The only player who he could hinder is chase, but if u limit Battier's minutes that a non-issue. If Tracy is healthy and buys in to the system like he did a couple of years ago, we will win and our young guys will continue to develop. Letting him rot is not the solution. Trade him or play him.

Whats baffling is these younger fans that seem to use old videos they never witnessed to support their arguments lol.

I never witnessed the 81 finals team so I rarely use that for anything other than what's written in history.
