I don't mind Bill and Matt. Yeah, they get passionate. Yeah, they love the Rockets. Still, they call it as they see it I feel. They'll call Scola/Lowry out for flops; they'll agree with refs if it's the right call but still against us. They are homers, but not BLIND homers. They're much more enjoyable than the filth on ESPN/TNT (except JVG, if we ever get a nationalized game).
I was at the Suns-Nugs game on Saturday and some jackass was wearing a Matt Harpring Utah Jazz jersey. He was causing such a scene that he actually yelled at the 10 year old girl behind him and was taunting her. When security kicked him out, they got a standing ovation. There's just something about Harpring that brings out the worst in people. As for the original topic -- Boston's are the worst, then Utah, then *sigh* Denver's. Stupid Hastings.
Matt is a blind homer. He is pretty annoying especially when he keeps whining. Every single team thinks they get screwed by the refs. Even lakers fans think they get screwed by the refs. Bring calvin back.
You can not seriously be saying that Bullard is a blind homer in one sentence and then advocating bringing Calvin "The Only Person Worse Than I Am Is Tommy Heinshon" Murphy back in the next, can you? Come on. I know you guys love Calvin and all, but both Bullard and Clyde are HUGE upgrades.
Bullard isn't the greatest but to call him a blind homer is complete nonsense. Last game he called out Scola for flopping. Let's reserve the blind homer term for idiots like Heinsohn who makes a fool of himself every game.
The Blazers and Celtics announcers are downright unprofessional in their homerism and bias. The Celts announcer sounds like a drunken hooligan they picked up at a local Boston bar and the Blazers announcers are just a-holes, they flat out insult the other teams. The Hornets announcers are huge homers too but they dont seem to have malice toward the other teams, just an unhealthy love for the Hornets, CP3 especially. Like he's their child and they are parents at a middle school soccer game.
Did you seriously just claim that Clyde is a superior announcer to Calvin? I know you probably don't watch a whole lot of games so it's understandable but.... GAH. What kind of thinking is that?
First of all, to each his own opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Bias is in the ears of the listener. My point: Those of you who think the Blazers announcers are anywhere near as bad as Tom Heinsohn have no earthly clue. Maybe it's because you dislike the Blazers. I like them and follow them closely, so I wanted to listen to another game by the Mikes before posting something strong about it. They are indeed homers but when the replay speaks, they will fall in line. Sometimes even without the replay. I know Mike Rice is worthless but he isn't nearly the idiot that Heinsohn is. Not close by a longshot. And both guys aren't beyond being critical of Blazers players when they play poorly. Maybe it's Blazer hatred. Maybe it's a particular call that you can't get out of your mind. But any sane person that listens to the Mikes for 10-15 minutes (or an entire game) and then listens to Tom Heinsohn for 15 minutes won't rate them anywhere close.
I think the Boston announcers are still a little bit about carrying on the ghost of Johnny Most. His legacy gives them the green light to be unadulterated homers. Joel Myers for the Lakers now isnt near as smooth as Chick Hearn, but you're not going to follow up Chick Hearn with a Tommy Heinsohn type. Bill, Bull and Clyde arent the most objective, but I think they're more lively than the average broadcast team. For an older guy, Worrell surprisingly isnt near the cheeseball as other broadcasters. Worrell has some natural expression to his delivery, other guys sound so canned in comparison.
Nobody beats the Celtic ones. My goodness those guys are terrible. I like the Warriors guys. The last game we played and I watched them. Surprising enough they were good to listen to.
I would listen to Clyde's stammering 100 times out of 100 before I ever listen to another game called by Calvin Murphy. I love this board, and I understand why you guys love him (he's a legend as a player), but holy mother of God was it painful to listen to him. YOU GET A TOMMY POINT FOR THIS POST! Worst. Announcer. Ever.
I know about Heinsohn. The first time I heard him broadcast he was telling the other announcer to put his green goggles back on after he agreed with a ref that a loose ball was out of bounds on Boston. He sounded like a drunken lunatic who belonged in either a nursing home or an Irish bar. And since then i've heard him many other times and its been more of the same. And yet he is still no worse than the Blazers announcers, who outright insult and sneer at the other teams players and coaches. Heinsohn is insanely biased and in all likelihood is more than a little senile, but he's never been mean-spirited and snide. The Blazers announcers are. Ive been appalled at how unprofessional they were many a time. I'm not saying that makes them worse, I think both broadcast teams are equally bad in their own ways. The Celtics' guys are more 'listen in utter disbelief, shake your head, and laugh at the insanity' bad, while the Blazers are more 'who the hell do these guys think they are?' bad.
Chicago announcers rate right up there too. At least we won't have to listen to Red Kerr anymore. /bad joke
Exactly. You guys that are calling Bill a homer, will you prefer guys cheering against us? If you hate himso much, just mute your tv while watching the rockets game and turn on the radio. Done deal. Bill doesn't get on my nerves at all. I've been watching him since I was 9. Its Bullard thats starting to get on my nerves everytime someone takes a charge and flops. Ok we know you don't like that, we don't need to hear you b@@ itch and complain everytime when someone does it.
