But Miller has screwed up his team's chemistry, which was one of the Blazers' strong points last year. Was it really worth sacrificing that? I think Pritchard is a top GM, but this signing was a bad move.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Portland drooling over Battier. He is the kind of player that would push them over the hump. But Miller? Maybe if they throw in Fernandez or Bayless.
I've read and heard from a lot of analyst that Miller's signing was a to help them aquire a trade asset since they had not signed any major names in the offseason. Chemistry is so overated. These guys are professionals and need to act like it.
This year is a developmental year for the team as well as a chance to compete in the playoffs. Andre Miller on this team would hold back Brooks and Lowry by cutting into their playing time and also indirectly hold back Budinger and Taylor's progress because Battier is their mentor. Makes absolutely no sense.
Miller for Battier is preposterous. Miller is overrated, is an unreliable shooter that doesn't space the floor for your wings, duplicates skills of bigs in the low post, is not particularly quick on penetration to suck in other defenders... Battier should retire as a Rocket.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. And professional athletes are known for always acting like responsible adults.
It's a bad trade for the Rockets straight up, but if Morey could leverage it into a larger deal, it might be worth looking at. The Blazers have players who could help the Rockets. Fernandez would be nice. Pryzbilla might have been, although that seems unlikely.
Turkeyglue would have pulled the same stunts and clashed with Roy as well. That makes 2/3 of Pritchard's top targets "bad" moves. I think he's a top GM too, but just saying....
Oh yeah, for reasons already mentioned this isn't a trade that makes sense from our end. Make no mistake about it: Andre Miller is a very good PG. All the same, we clearly have little need for a move of this type. Portland has wanted Battier for over two years now. That much is known. Batum/Oden-for-Battier? [Gulp] Just an idea
I found this humorous I'd discuss that move. Would have to depend on Mills being thrown in. Seems the Rockets still lose out on a lot. Or maybe Brooks + Battier + Dorsey + Taylor for Miller + Rudy + Bayless Would have NO outside at the point guard spots. Would be downright deplorable actually...we're talking 27% 3 pointers from the point guards.
A possible three-way trade then? Is there a team that wants a PG like Miller and is willing to part with a quality wing or PF/C?
Damn. I went into this thread thinking it was a Rockets related rumor about LaMarcus Aldridge. I AM DISAPPOINTED.
No thanks. One thing we don't need right now is another PG. Let alone giving up one of our best team players for him.
