Lots of you started talking crap about him after reading that interview. He was just on ESPN saying that it was for the commericial and that he would never say something so stupid and ignorant.
I'm getting confused here... Is this another product of agent spin, or was he really misquoted? That article made him look two-faced.
And espn stands by their story. So who knows for sure, but i doubt that espn would just make up the story. Plus i saw his new commercial today and it looks to be the same as from the article.
I dont think he would come on national television the day after to clear things up if he was really serious.
Maybe you should chill first, and realize there's 2 sides of the story. I wouldn't trust KG in the 4th quarter of a game, and neither do I trust him now.
Why are you talking about the 4th quarter? Im just saying that his comments were nothing more than a "show" for the commercial.
People, myself included, were talking crap because ESPN made it seem like it was a real interview and notljust a tv commercial. I saw the commercial tonight and now it all makes sense. I just can't believe that they would present it, as they initially did, as if it were just a regular garden variety interview. However, I suppose that is what one would expect from a reporter that Espn refers to as "CPalm."
the director of the commercial shoot was asked straight up if he thought KG was putting on an act when answering questions for the commercial... and he flat out said NO, it was all 100% pure straight from the heart... i think that was KG answering questions, he probably spiced up the language a little just to get into the proper mode for the commercial's backdrop (an interrogation scene), but i can totally see him believing what he said... why not?
They already have talent. He isn't the only All-Star on the T'Wolves. Szczerbiak averaged 18.7 points last season and was named an All-Star. Billups also was good with the Wolves last season averaging almost 13 a game. What more has he needed to actually get out of the first round? Billups leaving to Detroit will hurt the team, but they still should be able to get out of the first round sometime soon if KG is as great as everyone makes him out to be.
Getting out of the 1st round is easier said than done. The T-Wolves always play the top seeds in the 1st round. Those teams not only have players that are on par with Garnett, but they also have much more talent around their star player.
Garnett has a better team around him then the Spurs do. I'd take Szczerbiak and Smith over Robinson and Parker. If he is as great as he is said to be then he can lead his team, along with another All-Star to the 2nd round. I just think that he is overrated. I know that it isn't easy to get to the second round, but with all the hype around him being one of the 5 best players in the game, you'd atleast think he'd be able to lead his team to the second round just once.
Duncan is better than Garnett, for starters. S.A. had the best defense in the west with respect to ppg allowed, FG% allowed, and 3 pt% allowed. Heck, Houston even had a better defense than Minnesota. Now that is sad. Joe Smith is nothing. He could barely put up 10 points a game. As much as Szczerbiak can score, he is not worth a lick on Defense. If Terrell Brandon played in the playoffs, then it could have been a different story. But, they didnt have their starting PG. With Brandon, they were 32-9. With the lineup Minnesota was sporting, they could not match up against the Spurs.
I agree that Duncan is better than KG by far, and that the Spurs are a better team, but I'm saying that minus KG and Duncan they both are about the same, but Duncan is just so awesome and KG is overrated, because he isn't anywhere close to being as good as Duncan. I guess I just didn't really get my point across clearly. I'm just saying that he has a pretty good team around him and should have been out of the first round atleast once in his career. I agree that Joe Smith isn't a great player. I was just saying that Szczerbiak, Brandon and Smith are probably the 3 best players around KG. The 3 best players around Duncan are Robinson, Smith and Parker. I would take the Szczerbiak, Brandon and Smith over Steve Smith, Parker and Robinson, because Steve Smith is old, Paker is overrated (he only averaged 4 dimes per game) and David Robinson. Robinson is getting old. If you compare both team's starting lineups they are about the same minus the 2 superstars. I am just saying that if Duncan can lead the Spurs past the first round, then Garnett should also, if he is as good as everyone says he is. I just think that Garnett is overrated.
Fair enough. I need some sleep. I have to get ready for more discussions tomorrow. G'nite Anyways, the Twolves lost to the Mavs last year.
Alright. Later man lol. I guess we are the only 2 people on this late every night. The problem though is, if I stay up till like 5 in the morning then I usually sleep till 2-4 in the afternoon the next day, lol. I better get some sleep, because my cousin is staying over my house, and I don't want to bore her by sleeping all day tomorrow or I should say today.
It is true that without Duncan, the Spurs would suck @$$. Without KG, the Wolves would suffer but still be able to compete very well (Sczerbiak would probably start scoring 25 points per game). Kg is a very good player, probably in the top 10 best. He has a more well-rounded game than Duncan and probably has more moves (ie. dribble better, shoot 3, etc.) than Duncan. Difference is Duncan is money in the skills that he does possess. He can basically score whenever he wants in the post. And before he could be double-teamed, he can shoot that quick mid-range banker that he makes probably 75% of the time. Garnett does not have that kind of dominating offensive skills. He has more moves, but Duncan is better in the moves that he does have. That is why KG struggles at times in the 4th quarter when the defense collapses on him (same with Webber too). Im not saying that Duncan doesnt struggle in the 4th quarter either, cuz he does, as can be seen in the playoff series against the Lakers (when he passes too much or gets tired). The fact that KG does not dominate the deciding minutes of the game is why he did not (and probably wont in a long time) ever take his team farther than the first round.
Is Garnet overrated? Perhaps he was at one time, back when some considered him the best player in basketball. Now? People consider him one of the best PFs in the game. Probably something like this: 1. Tim Duncan (you're a center Tim, but if you insist...) 2. Chris Webber 3. Irk Nowitzki 4. Kevin Garnett 5. Rasheed Wallace 6. Elton Brand. I'd place him 2nd on that list. There aren't many players who can take a team like the Timberwolves to the playoffs. At the very least, they had 2 "dead" positions among the starting 5 last year. The other two "important" players were Wally "I'd be crap without KG" and Chauncey "I've failed everywhere else" Billups. Personally, I think he makes them as good as they are.
