    Trevor Artest!

Guy should get suspended and fined. That was a serious swing and could have caused some major damage had it connected. Looked worse than a punch.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got 3 or more games.

I know he's frustrated, but that's not how to deal with it. He'll learn as he is young. Maybe he should go talk to Artest.

LOL those Canadian announcers probably see stuff like that all the time in hockey, no big deal to them.

    man are you serious.

when an opponent take a full on swing with his elbow to your teamates, the right thing to do is to get in his face. you dont just fricken stand there and let that happen, you let them know don't f*** with my team..

my man, what you fail to realize is that ariza had clearly not connected and he clearly did not intend to continue the aggression.

Other than personal macho points, WHAT DID JACK HAVE TO GAIN?

That was NOT a "aw shucks" moment. He tried to elbow him intentionally.

In fact, it wasn't that DeRozan's head was there at the wrong time, it's that it WASN'T there at the right time, or else things could've got real ugly.

The look on Ariza's face settles that he lost control and feels guilty.

He did not continue the aggression, he was simply letting ariza know, "you are not just gonna walk away after pulling a stunt like that on my teamate". that is exactly what you are suppose to do, get in the guy's face..not throwing a punch or elbow back but simply letting him know dont fricken do that again.

and btw you can't possibly justify ariza's actions by saying he didn't connect. the intent was obviously there, and he should be ashamed of himself.

Then you should be happy at the chance he might get suspended. He probably kills your FG%, 3PT%, and FT%. Steals are the the most positive thing he will give a fantasy team.

That was a malicious swing. I would be disappointed if he only got a game, because if it was a player from any other team I'd expect to see a multiple game suspension. It wasn't anything close to a basketball play.

At first I was sympathetic to "just frustration, no intent," but I've slowed that down frame by frame (well, youtube frame by frame), but the moment his elbow is maximally extended, it's just a few inches from the player's head. It looks nasty, as in Ariza is giving it all he has in that moment.

He made a mistake and if you see the video he clearly knows what he did was wrong.

    Give the guy a break.

he's 24, has so much on his shoulders with a new team, contract, system and role.

what he did was wrong but he knew it looks upset at himself because of what he did.

    I forgive him for that.

if you look at it from the other angle, from the rockets' bench, it looks like he tried to swing , as in punch, and at the last second pulled back. That's going to be important in deciding his punishment..who knows if the NBa will see it like that, maybe the rockets will argue that's what happened..

Does ariza need jack to tell him he wont walk away? Isn't the ref ejecting him actually telling him that?
