Houston Rockets Glen Rice - 9.2 mill, earliest possible FA year is 2004 Maurice Taylor - 7.2 mill, earliest possible FA year is 2007 Kelvin Cato - 6.7 mill, earliest possible FA year is 2006 Cuttino Mobley - 4.9 mill, earliest possible FA year is 2006 Steve Francis - 4.4 mill, earliest possible FA year is 2003 Moochie Norris - 3.6 mill, earliest possible FA year is 2007 Everyone else - 2.2 mill or less Here is Gucci's breakdown: With Francis getting the max, Glens crazy 9.2 a year, MoT's long a$$ contract, and Cato's ridiculous 6.7 mill for the next 4 seasons. The Rocks are pretty much stuck with who we have, no FA is going to sign here unless he wants crappy a$$ contract. So forget Lewis, unless a sign & trade happens, which Seattle says "they will not participate in a sign & trade." http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/78536_sonx15.shtml The only deal I see happening is a trade involving KT for a SG, but look what that would gives us: Ming-Cato MoT-Griffin Rice-Nachbar Mobley-?? Francis-Norris A BADA$$ TEAM, an all-star starting 5 and a secondary that could start for any team.
kt for a sg is a good idea. dont forget about our mid class exception. we may have the best third string team in the league. MCE (vet to mold yao) collier Tmo os tierre or titto
How about you take it one step further and make a trade w/the Nugz. Nugz get: Cato, Rice, Mooch & KT Rocks get: Nene, Savo & a second rounder Use the MCE to sign Rashard Lewis. That would give us: C-Ming & Nene PF-MoT, Griff SF-Rashard, Nachbar SG-Cat, Savo PG-Franchise, Tierre/Tito TMo & Collier (reserve) In the first 5 games with MoT out, Griff, Nene & TMo could rotate at the 4. Could also bring back Willis if a vet presence in the pivot is deemed absolutely necessary. Young line-up but could be awesome. It is just getting too painful to watch Rice, Cato & Mooch play as Rockets. But they would help a young Nugz team some. And don't anyone bring up the Duncan sweepstakes, there is no way in hell that Duncan signs with the Nuggets, NO way.
Its good to dream. Why would Denver do such a thing? They are in the building mode. Not a total collapse mode.
I don't know how comfortable I'd feel with two foreign unproven rookie centers. It would probably take the playoffs out of the picture this year, but then again it could also pay off HUGE in a few years. That is, if Ming and Hilario BOTH turned out to be real.
I doubt the Rocks or Nuggs would do those trades. I doubt Cato goes anywhere, as much as I hate to say it, Francis would be pissed and plus, damnit, the Rocks need him incase something happens with Ming.
They will not give up Nene for that, no way. It is like offering that for Mcdyess. nope.... Nene is planned to be one of their cornerpieces. (hopefully)
