Interesting that most of these lineups don't differ that greatly (if at all) from our current roster (w/healthy Yao + TMac).

those who think Steve Francis is the best Point Guard we have had over the last 10 years spend too much time looking at stats and not enough time watching the game. Steve had quite possibly the lowest basketball IQ of anyone to ever play for a Houston Rockets team. He did things based on great athleticism and talent but horrible decisions. He never learned a thing from the time he was a rookie until the time he was traded for TMac. Sure Steve would get 6 or 7 rebounds a game (great for a point guard) but then he would walk it up the court killing half of the shot clock before he passed center court. He would then pound the life out of the ball until he had no choice but to go one on one for a poor shot. I remember him getting trapped by Utah prior to getting to half court, not because Utah was pressing but because Steve was not paying attention and just walking the ball up the court. I count the number of times I used to hear Calvin Murphy complain about Steve dribbling to the corner because he would always get trapped. Steve did not have good handles. OK dribbler but not on the same level as Aaron Brooks is now. Steve was not a good defender. How many times did we see some obscure point guard have a career game against Steve. How many time did we see him wave off Yao who was one on one in the post or even open because Steve wanted to shoot himself of pass to Cat? Does anyone here remember everyone thinking it was blasphemy to assume Steve Nash could be as good as Francis? That would have been like comparing Scott Padgent to Lebron James, you would have been flamed for a month. Yes Steve could take over a game and win it by himself but he screwed the Rockets just as often by trying to do it all when what we needed was good team basketball. That is why we floundered around .500 the whole time SF3 was the starting point guard, only making the play-offs once and never winning a series. The best Point Guards of the past 10 years? Brooks, Sura, Wesley, Mike James (1st time around) and Lowry. I would take any of them ahead of Steve Francis.
Now don't be silly! We can't have Steve Francis as our best Point Guard.Steve Francis was a selfish player who hated to pass to anyone else. His personal glory was always his single goal. Sometimes one wondered if he even knew how to set up his players, especially Yao Ming!
Rockets who have averaged 6+ assists per game in the 2000's. Tracy McGrady - once Rafer Alston - once Steve Francis - every season as a Rocket (4 in the 00's + '99 and he averaged 7 apg in Orlando after we traded him). With Rafer Alston sucking and AB and Lowry still gaining experience, Steve only makes sense at the PG spot. I mean, he did make 3 NBA All Star teams and started all of them. You can't say that about any of the other candidates.
Me too. Remember when Kidd, Mashburn, and JJ all played for the Mavs? That could have been one hell of a squad if they stayed healthy and together.
Did you just include Luther Head in your Rockets All-Decade lineup? And you put him starting over Mobley. You put Mobley in but not Francis? Bad team for what you have to choose from
I love Aaron brooks, I love my rockets. But steve had better, I mean way better handles than Aaron Right now. It's really not that close.

I am right, I cannot be disputed.
i prefer the bow you, spit on you, stab you, run over you, build a toyota center on top of you, and then break a leg off a table and stab you in the heart team. techs galore, but entertaining and no team would want to play us... ever. toughness of the badboys and the knicks of the 90's. c - dikembe, carr pf - barkley, oakley, motay sf - artest, posey sg - sura, nachbar (boki became "hood" after the malone moment) pg - rafer, francis, ward
No way. Not even close. One of the complaints about Steve when comparing him to guys like AI were that he did not posses the same handles. AB has, not better, but superior handles than Steve.
