Texas-bound Pakistanis slip ship, hail cab By CAROL CHRISTIAN Copyright 2002 Houston Chronicle Texas: Where you want to be. Apparently that was the case for four Pakistanis who were not allowed off their ship, the Maltese Little Lady P, while it was docked in Houston. So after it docked in Destrehan, La., they jumped ship and hailed a cab for Texas. Border Patrol agents had issued papers in Houston saying the men could not go ashore because they were from a "suspect" country, said St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne. He said the four men, ages 22 to 34, told the cab driver they wanted to go to Texas. Instead, he dropped them off in La Place, about 15 miles west of Destrehan, Champagne said. Border Patrol agents in Louisiana had no new information about the men's whereabouts. Investigators don't consider the men dangerous, however. "It would seem to me that terrorists would have a little better plan than these four guys had," Champagne said. ======================== the article stated: "Investigators don't consider the men dangerous, however." "It would seem to me that terrorists would have a little better plan than these four guys had," Champagne said. uh.... that's not necessarily true... what if the only instructions these guys had where to get to Houston, once there, then contact someone!?!?!?! If they were 'suspect' to begin with and NOT allowed entry and then gained entry, wouldn't that alone be 'suspect'??? this scares me!
I was kinda thinking the same thing, rH. It would nice to hear at least some sort of motivation for WHY they wanted to get to Texas so bad, you know? Maybe they are after the Dell Guy....hmmm....carry on, men, carry on!
you guys are dumbasses...just cause they're pakistani, u think they're terrorists...i just got back from pakistan and i didn't see any "terrorists"...
These guys probably just want to open a convenience store or a motel. For all we know they might just want to open an Indo-Pak grocery store in Alief, off Bissonet and Dairy Ashford...
No kidding! All the terrorist I know wear badges around their neck showing what cell block they belong to.
I am Pakistani, yet I think that these guys should be rounded up, interrogated, jailed and sent back if they entered the country illegally. It doesn't matter if they are "terrorists" or not, they committed a crime. Our lax immigration laws leave much to be desired and put a large strain on our economy when our social services and insurance costs rise because of illegal immigrants that do not pay a penny of taxes. The statement that just because they are Pakistani, it doesn't make them terrorists is not understanding the unrestrictive borders in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. People could have easily left Afghanistan, claimed they were Pakistani, purchased fake papers and proceed to enter the US. They could have been from anywhere. Irregardless to whether they were illegals from Pakistan, Guatemala, China or Europe...they were still illegal and committing a crime. We should do some sort of fingerprinting or marking of people that get caught entering illegally. Because most of the time, they just try again next week and every week till they get in. It should be a three strikes and then your out. If someone tries to get in illegally three times, banish them from ever entering legally and a harsh labor camp to clean up roads in texas for 6 months until released. Put them to work!
ACtually, you put words in my mouth. I never mentioned the words "terrorist." I said it would be nice to see why they were so damn determined to get to Texas. All i see is flooding, humidity, deadly mosquitoes, and obnoxious people. Not exactly a reason for me to go flocking to a large chunk of land on the other side of the world.... I would have to say that your assumptions about me, without hearing what i actually say, make you the dumbass.....but i value your opinion highly. Thanks for sharing.... (INFINITE ROLLY EYES!!!!!)
