Thanks, prof- OK, if I really only had to choose one, my choice would be absolutely this: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sN62PAKoBfE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sN62PAKoBfE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I was about to go with some of my other favorites (Ice Cube's Today Was A Good Day, Warren G Regulate, Snoop Dogg's Lodi Dodi), but I think I might have to still with classic music meets raps. Kurupt @ his finest over an amazing violin beat! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fO-rdGV370Y&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fO-rdGV370Y&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Very tough question to answer but I think my answer might surprise some people..a remake of a classic blues song: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6FmQ-mXGt_I&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6FmQ-mXGt_I&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> The "woman" tone that Clapton got back then is otherworldly to say the least.
I couldn't find an official video or a high-quality live recording of The New Pornographers' "The Bleeding Heart Show," so this will have to do: <object width="320" height="265"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/dH9Q4fsZ1IY&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/dH9Q4fsZ1IY&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="265"></embed></object>
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TAEgzs4Iwoo&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TAEgzs4Iwoo&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Music is funny. Most of the songs posted do NOTHING for me; here's mine that will probably do NOTHING for YOU... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y6fR7j0agpk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y6fR7j0agpk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Yes, I think it's the most perfect song ever, and pretty influential to boot. There's nothing extraneous in it. The production is unbelievable as you pretty much hear every note played, every drum beat, etc. I'd say its the opposite of "wall of sound." But even with the song's simplicity it still manages to push the envelope. I know Lennon wrote the song, but McCartney owns on it! The bass line he lays down adds a whole other dimension rather than just being relegated to a more typical supporting role. He also plays drums on it since Ringo had walked out on the band for a brief time. The drumming is extremely simple yet the rhythm changes are some of the most effective I've ever heard. Also love George Harrison's guitar when it finally comes in. I think the sloppy hooks during the third verse were ahead of their time (reminds me of early 90s indie rock), and his pseudo-solo during the song's finale is epic. As far as Lennon goes, the song is obviously moving, but what strikes me the most is how the sympathy and concern he's expressing with his words is complemented so perfectly by the melodies. All that aside, I'm 99% sure this is the song I've listened to the most in my life, so it was a pretty easy choice.
i can listen to this song forever..this video not the best quality..sounds like a casseste tape about give out or something.. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BcIjxlLfcM4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BcIjxlLfcM4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Well, I don't really consider a symphony the same thing as a "song" per se. Maybe someone can start a thread asking the same thing except for a classical piece instead of a song. I guess I'd have to go with Smetana's The Moldau.
