Seeing Lebron struggle agaisnt our beloved Rockets tonight brought back memories of seeing Lebron struggle against our beloved rockets in the past. Simply put "King James" can't quite conquer Red nation, of course curiosity go the best of me and I began to look at game logs from the time "King James" entered the league in 03-04 to last year. I totaled 12 games played agasint the Rockets (Not counting last nights) I only included PPG, ASG, W/L and FG%. Hopefully Durvasa can chime in and expand on my findings, he is much, much better at statistical anlysis that me. 03-04 FGA-FGM ASSISTS POINTS 7-19 3 17 5-18 5 11 04-05 FGA-FGM ASSISTS POINTS 0-5 5 3 7-22 8 19 05-06 FGA-FGM ASSISTS POINTS 13-19 5 32 14-34 5 36 06-07 FGA-FGM ASSISTS POINTS 7-22 4 21 12-24 8 32 07-08 FGA-FGM ASSISTS POINTS 12-23 6 32 7-18 11 26 08-09 FGA-FGM ASSISTS POINTS 11-23 5 27 7-21 0 21 Now let's look at totals: 12 games total FGA = 248 FGM=102 for a very "Un-King" like 41.12% from the floor. Now you may say, "Well we had elite defenders on the perimeter" While that may be true for the latter years Shane didn't arrive here until 06-07. 12 games total PPG average= 23.08 While that may still be impressive it's also worth noting that Lebron is averaging 20.6 attemps per game. 1.12 Pts/Fga(Points per field goal attempted). High efficiency players usually hover in the 1.5 range. To put it in perspective Rafer had a Pts/Fga of 1.08. 12 games total APG = 5.41 Lebron only colected one double digit assit game (11) in 12 tries. So not only are the Rockets keeping him in check, they're also not allowing him to get everyone else involved. Overall since Lebron laced them up in 03-04 he has a W-L record of 2-10 against the boys in Red. Maybe it's the arena lighting, (Tracy may have had a point there!) the Space city hot dogs, who knows but for what ever reason "King James" doesn't hold court in H-town.
you little ******.... you don't even want to know what that word is.... for all the hype Lebron has gotten ever since high school? the man has handled everything with complete class and is a stand up guy..... He is an amazing role model for young athletes around the world. Don't comment about something you clearly don't understand. Now that I'm done with that rant.... yes the Rockets have held him in check over the years and I too would give credit to our great perimeter defense, however, he has had some big nights against us and I wouldn't get too cocky because the man can ball. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go for 40+ next time against Houston.... he'll accept the challenge
what the hell? That is his opinion you have no right to "***" him. Personally I agree, for the first time I am actually witnessing a guy encouraging speculation for when he becomes a free agent in'10 all around the league. The "Lebron Sweepstakes," all hyped up by him. He is a nice guy but his demeanor many times is still immaturish. He dances around and refuses to congratulate anyone after the playoffs ended for him, especially when his team was declared the clear victor before the series even started and that is probably why he and his team goof around so much.
He was way beyond the likes of deshaun stevenson, a crappy player with an attitude, yet he decided to play fiddle in their little rapper buddy clash. He is like a spoiled kid.
Wow dude...seriously, take a deep breath. Yes, he's had to live with the "hype".....but the world has pretty much been served to him on a platter. ESPN's got his back......and jock.
You know why ESPN has his back? Because they're full of people who know sports and who realize how hard it is for someone in his stature to stay clean, when in these days, everything is blown out of proportion. You talk to any former NBA player and they will have nothing but praise for the way he's handled the spotlight
Totally agree. The guy is squeaky clean compared to other high profile athletes. Sure he may have a few minor missteps here and there but atleast (as far as we know) he isn't cheating on his supermodel wife and crashing his car into trees *cough* Tiger.
Kobe was squeaky clean too up until his dirty laundry was aired out in Colorado. Also, Tiger was squeaky clean up until about two weeks ago.
Yes, but you can't assume Lebron is like this just because other superstar's are...... wouldn't be fair
You do realise why some people calls ESPN as BSPN, right? And ESPN has his back is definitely not solely because they suppose to know the sport.
It's not assuming when it's actually true. I think Lebron's a great player but the fact the little antics he does makes him immature and disrespectful not only to players but to fans and the sports itself. I came to see a game, not some whine fest or "so you think you can dance".
Sure it would be hard and you're right(except no praise for BSPN is justified) he has handled it well but like the previous poster said he still has a lot of immaturity about him. He is all about himself and on the court expects to be treated differently to the rest, just watch him when the going is tough he acts angry because the refs are not bailing him out when he has an off night, the dances while kids might think its 'cool' really are disrespectful and I can imagine Lebron having a cry if someone danced after making him look bad. Stuff like this and the throwing of the powder is all about him, he does it to be the center of attention, when you're seeking to be the center of attention he and his fans like yourself have to expect that he will be criticized for the negatives and anyone who can see past the love for his amazing talent can see there are areas he could work on. Win a championship first, then at least you got something to back it up with.
The reason for Lebron's early career struggles (i.e. pre-arrival of Battier) vs. Rockets are as follows: 1. Lebron was younger and not as good as he is now. 2. Lebron was on some worse teams back then, easier to focus on him during those years. 3. The Rockets still played good team defense back in the days with JVG driving the bus. 4. The Rockets also had very talented defenders before Battier: Yao was young and healthy, foul prone but a presence in the paint. David Wesley was a smart and very strong veteran defender before he lost his legs in 05/06. Dikembe was helping to clog up the paint at an elite level, too. 5. The Rockets had a exteremly talented big wing defender that many have forgotten about: Tracy McGrady, the guy who frustrated Dirk in the 04/05 playoffs. He missed a lot of 05/06, but was there in 04/05 most of the year, and as JVG said "when McGrady defend[ed], we defend[ed]."
I don't know about any of you guys, but I already assume any athlete that is married is cheating on his spouse. How could you resist the tail that is offered to you freely? I know many don't agree but just because you cheat I don't automatically think you're a bad person.
I wouldn't get too amped about this win. In reality, the cavs were on a back to back overtime loss to the grizzlies. The rockets had 3 day's rest. You do the math.
really? Did they praise him for dancing against the Bulls? How about refusing to shake Dwight Howard's hand? How about the whole "will he go to New York" thing? You hold your hero too high and will be disappointed at some point by it. Just except that When LeBron plays here WE OWN HIM, Plain and simple simpleton.
