Got an in-n-out 1 mile from my house and I will never understand the fascination with it ... I'd take a whataburger here over that any day
Its funny to me that you guys are spazzing out over In-N-Out. I mean its pretty good but its far from mind-blowing. IMO the king of Cali burger chains is FatBurger (drool...). I remember when I interned at HewlettPackard/Compaq in 2006 how everyone asked me about In-N-Out when I told them I was from LA. I told them it was alright and they looked at me like I was crazy. Wat-A-Burger is waaaaaaaay better than In-N-Out. It literally blew my mind.
lol, yea I didnt see this before I typed my response. In-N-Out is overrated. Whataburger is the truth!
I wanted to go, but decided to go to Carl's Jr cause it was closer I never try it in Vegas cause it's not on the strip, but Fatburger is!
You get scripture on the bottom of your soda cup, and the menu is much smaller. Oh, and you get to wait in a much longer line. Oh, and you can say things like "animal style" and feel really cool in that... (?) ... hipster fastfoodie way? That's basically it. I do kind of like them, but I miss whataburger.
I'm pretty happy that Five Guys is 2 blocks away from my apartment. They are similar to In-N-Out IMO.

Good. In-N-Out puts out one of the worst burgers out there -- reminds me a lot of a Burger King Whopper without the flavor.
Not that I'm an In-N-Out apologist or anything (because they were 10x better 10 years ago -- I was told by a regional manager's son that they actually used ribeye for their ground beef), but for all of you saying "X" is better, is that taking into account that a double-double is only $2.75? For that price, you get at best 1/2 of a burger at Fat Burger. Even Carls Jr. is more expensive than that (hell, even McD and BK are more expensive than that for their "premium" burgers). Also, since In-N-Out never freezes its meat, until they figure out another source, their stores can't be too far away from Harris Ranch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harris_ranch.
I can walk to the nearest Whataburger. I'd trade it for In-n-Out in a second. I didn't like Five Guys. Probably cause I choked on the order. I got too many toppings/condiments to taste the meat then I was worried about finishing the fries. I don't like to waste food.
I still don't understand all the love that In-N-Out gets from people. I've been a couple of times and thought it was mediocre.
