This is great news, as the GOP splinters and the TeaParty suffers from infighting it leaves the Dems with a clear field.

So are the GOP considered a third party yet?

As a Ron Paul Republican, I would say that Ron Paul is a Gary Johnson Republican. Gary Johnson was certainly more successful in his political career than Ron Paul has been in his so far. I will vote for Gary Johnson in any straw poll that I wear a funny hat to, but I don't think he has a chance, because of one issue. He's an open borders guy. He has some quote about Mexican trucks passing American trucks at the border doing 70 mph. I agree with it, but it doesn't sell to the vast majority of the Republican voters, and every primary challenger will beat him over the head with it.

If only, y'know, it actually existed. Bet the "Blowjob and Free Cake" party would win the wierdos who have conversations with strangers over the phone contest, too.

now more popular than Dems as well.

    -----
TEA PARTY MORE POPULAR THAN DEMS, GOP

Just how angry is the public with the country's two leading political parties? Angry enough that the conservative, libertarian-leaning Tea Party movement is more popular than either the Democratic or the Republican parties, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The Republican Party maintains its net-negative favorable/unfavorable rating in the poll, with 28 percent viewing it positively and 43 percent seeing it in a negative light.

For the first time in more than two years, the Democratic Party also now holds a net-negative fav/unfav, at 35-45 percent.

By comparison, the NBC/WSJ poll shows the Tea Party movement with a net-positive 41-23 percent score.

Yet looking inside those numbers, more than three-quarters (76 percent) of those who say FOX News is where they get their news see the Tea Party movement positively, versus just 4 percent who see it negatively.

That's a stark contrast to how viewers of the competing cable networks CNN and MSNBC see the movement. More of those viewers have a negative opinion of it (36 percent) than a positive one (24 percent).

Those who get their news mostly from broadcast TV (either NBC, CBS or ABC) are split -- 28 percent view it positively, versus 27 percent who view it negatively.

How long would this wave of popularity last once the tea party actually had to come up with answers for America's problems instead of just screaming "they took 'er jobs!!!" and faking turnout numbers for their rallies?

I would like to personally appeal to the Tea baggers to run as many third party candidates in swing districts as possible - you can't trust the GOP anymore.

Let's face it, when going up against registered, self-confessed, card-carrying republicans like basso and asking for their votes in Republican primaries, those type of elitist, nanny-wanting opera weenies just won't vote for you in the end - basso's Republican primary vote goes to a Republican only.

You need the dumber, "get your government hands off my medicare!" crowd, a la thumbs. Please try to get as many as possible. As a third party. Thanks.

Of course, Sam, if you ever got your head out of your nether region, you might discover we are working in both parties to effect change. Third parties get headlines but not much more.

Who would think, a bunch of monochromatic ignorant bleaters blindly shouting inapposite slogans while waving around pictures of holocaust victims would be good only for shock value headlines rather than much more.

Given my number one problem with Paul was the fact that he wouldn't tell the conspiracy nutjobs who supported him to STFU, I possibly would too.
