so do i. i knew Canseco was telling the truth, too. much rather believe him than Clemens and Bonds and whoever else still has something to hide. the truth shall set you free!
I actually thought about that. A team is up 3-1, they would always want the team down to win so they can sell more tickets, get more people to watch.
He didn't really say anything new. He seemed to be pretty conservative in giving up knowledge (calling out other refs by name, pointing to specific series, etc.), but I guess that's expected. I was really looking forward to reading his book, but after watching the interview, I basically lost all interest. If he was trying to promote his book and entice people into buying it, he failed.
Whats sad is when the teams are evenly matched, it may be enough to throw the series the other way. Example being Houston/Dallas.
Exactly!!! Another good example of the NBA rigging games was the Kings vs Lakers series. I hate these refs....
damn i thought i had missed this then i remembered i am on the west coast and it hadnt aired yet whew
I know he's supposed to be a bad guy for what he did and he brought this onto himself, but I felt terrible when I saw the look on his face when asked about his family.
Now it makes sense in why the Rockets/Lakers series went to 7 series.. To keep the 'big market teams' playing longer series so the NBA can profit from it No Yao/Tmac Rockets vs To-be NBA Champs Lakers in 7 games..
I think it's fairly easy to blame people for what they've done without looking at context. Obviously, he did a bad thing... but at the same time, I don't think enough people took into consideration why he probably was doing. If it was just purely out of greed, it'd be one thing versus doing it out of fear.
Stern to respond on 60 minutes but CBS is going to enfore 24 sec shotclock on him. Great job Donaghy. you're a hero, the league will be much better now.
did the ref not like JVG durin the Dallas series extended to game 7 vs Dallas - Utah - Lakers and we know what happen.
He said pretty interesting things, one of them is that the NBA always want the bigger organization and more popular to win in the playoff, and you know what i believe these allegation, when you look at it from the NBA prospective, it means more tickets, more people watching, more national tv games, more revenue, it's definitely beneficial for the NBA....
