Any audiophiles out there? My Bose quietcomforts are falling apart, and I need an upgrade. I've been doing some research for some nice high-end cans, but I can't decide between the numerous brands (Sennheiser, Grado, Sony, etc). I was almost set on some Grado sr225i's, but I hesitated because of the 'open' design that leaks, being that I listen to music in public a lot. Budget is around $250 and I listen to mostly all types of music.
From Head-fi.org Closed Headphone 2-Sennheiser HD25-II ($175) 1-Audio Technica a900 ($200) Massive soundstage, strong bass, and comfort are its strong points. Great for movies and jazz. Slight weakness in the low-midrange. Crappy pleather Pads. 2-Beyerdynamic Dt250 ($200) 2-AKG 271s ($185) Closed Headphone Denon D2000 ($260) Ultrasone PROLine 750 ($263) Audio Technica ESW9 ($280) I would go with the Denon D2000 216 right now on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AHD2000-Performance-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B000MVEC0Q
Yeah, I would avoid Grados if you're going to be listening in public. I have the SR60's and they leak a LOT. I brought them on a car ride and everybody in the car could hear what I was listening to, even with the radio on. But other than that, I have no experience with higher quality headphones.
Yeah, You are going to have a problem finding high end studio headphones that don't leak. I love the Grado's and the AKG K240's (I have a pair myself) Don't fall for those eye candy Beat's by Dre....Pure crap. Have you thought about In Ear Monitors? They are really good at pumping great sound, blocking outside noise and don't leak at all.
If you're going to be listening public, I would go with the in ears from Shure, etymotics, or Ultimate Ears. There was that crazy deal on the Ultimate Ears on Amazon a few days back.
I need to start buying good headphones. I keep buying $15-$25 ones at Target and they die in a month.
I need to buy some IPhone headphones on the cheap, but good ones. Anyone know where online I can get one?
because when you want good value for the cash, you look to Monster cable and Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre knows tons about designing headphones, cause he is sooo smart. Beats are craptastic.
