Maybe they are letting him "find" himself. He looks bad now, but I think the coaching staff has a method to it's madness.

It could be psychology - they want him to realize on his own which shots to take and how to create. It could jsut be that they think he'll figure it out.

I think Ariza makes a lot of mistakes, driving into traffic - he doesn't have the skills for that. He also picks up his dribble on the perimeter a bit too quick for someone who is suppose to be a creator.

I thought it was already established that coach and gm are encouraging ariza to be that scorer?

So its alright for a defensive minded guy to jack up shots and horrible shots they are but its not good for McGrady who is a scorer to shoot the ball.

What I'm saying is ok McGrady I bet if McGrady went 6-19 and 3-12 it would have been the end of the world but for Ariza its letting him "find" himself?? What does he need to find? He is a slasher / defensive minded player. He isn't a scorer.

He picks up his dribble too much?? Thats because HE CAN'T DRIBBLE. Creator?? Hahaha that has got to be a first. Ariza a creator.. Hmmm plz

you're missing the point though, his shots will go down that is for darn sure but the shots he will get with Tracy on the court will have a much lower difficulty than what he is taking now. He will have more spot up opportunities and his shooting percentages will go up. Don't think R.A will let t-mac saunter onto the court and start taking 20-25 shots a game again.

Don't think just because McGrady is on the court that Ariza's shots will start falling. McGrady isn't Kobe so that means no driving to the rim to have the help defender leave his man to kick it out. Get what im saying??

I like T-Mac n all but if McGrady is healthy he is going to do what has made him successful in the league. if that means take 20-25 shots then be prepared for that. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Yao and Mac was taken majority of the shots so you think that would change now if he is healthy?

Well, McGrady has better passing ability then Kobe so he can find Ariza and get him open more.

Yeah true but McGrady doesn't move like he use to. Remember his body isn't like any other 30 year old player. He did come straight out of H.S.

Who knows I can't call it but maybe he will be a man on a mission and turn it up and destroy everyone.

I am not passing judgment, only explaining rationale.

Ariza came here to take that role - to be a creator. To create (for yourself or others) you have to dribble penetrate. So they are letting him do that.

I don't know if he does it better in practice and has made progress there and it just hasn't translated yet. I am not comparing him to T-mac.

I hope Mac comes back soon and murders teams. They say even an ant will kick an elephant when he is down. Truth.

After thinking about these words, I had another thought..."If he is doing this better in practice, I'd love to see some video of it"...and then after that I had another thought, "No, because he'd only be doing it against our own guys, that's a completely different thing altogether". Look, I'm not sure if he is doing it better in practice, or if he showing promise to do that, but uh, no. Ariza is not a solid creator yet. He will probably never be a Tracy McGrady in that sense, but because it seems like he'll be with us long-term, I sure hope he can at least develop of some of that talent (if he has it) into a skill that can be used (so he can create).

EXACTLY. Ariza is going to be so much more effective and efficient when mcgrady comes back.

i am sure that if Rick Adelman had not told Mcgrady that he wasnt going to play, and then asked him if he wanted to come back against the Cavs, i would believe Mcgrady would have been more serious about the offer and said yes. Again Adelman jokingly asked him after he told Mcgrady what the rockets plans were/

you are making it more than it is. I think it was just a miss communication between both, mcgrady thought that he would be cleared to play after the 23rd, but he wasnt so he wanted to know what was going on. It wasnt made clear of what they had planned for mcgrady, so mcgrady set his own goals. It just so happens that we have this thing called the media, who likes to get into everybody's bussiness to find out whats going on, and we as fans want that so WE can find out whats going on. So is Mcgrady supposed to apologize for putting on his uniform(after he did his pregame workout, which means he knew he wasnt going to play) and then everybody making a big deal out of it execpt rick adelman and the rockets? Is mcgrady supposed to apologize for setting a target date, when the rockets said there was no timetable for his return(even though they set a date of 23rd, y wouldnt mcgrady want to set a goal that would be ahead of schedule) Or is mcgrady supposed to aopologize for complaining about the lack of communication to the public( although didnt Adelman complain to the media about Mcgrady not informing the team his season was over?) I am not saying Adelman was wrong for complaining because he wasnt. He had a right to be mad about the lack of communication. and mcgrady has a right to be mad about the lack of communication he is getting now. But they all seem to be on the same page, so everything is okay. Just dont pin this whole thing on mcgrady

Damn YES! at least McGrady's getting some response. And we also get some info which is also good. McGrady doesn't
want to get back against the cavs because maybe he's a little afraid, he ain't played a game in a long time and
he doesn't want to get embarrased by lebron. you know what?? I don't blame him. i don't Blame him at all. imagine you were him for a minute, you had a terrible season, you had to have microfracture
surgery, not just any surgery, you rushed the recovering, and luckily that didn't turn out bad for you, you haven't
played a game in a long time and now you're finally going to play and they're putting you up against lebron.
what would you do? but since RA finally decided to let him play, i'm sure they'll agree on a date and mcgrady
is finally going to play. Finally some good news, and to those who were saying yahoo was right about mcgrady
leaving, you were wrong. t-mac is going to stay a rocket. GO T-MAC!!!

T-Mac is right to be afraid, i don't blame him, he hasn't played a game in a long time and the cavs are one of the
best teams in the whole nba. you may call him a coward, but i call him a smart guy. hope the best for him...
