Didn't realize hometown commentators were supposed to be unbiased

I'd actually list Scola and Lowry as our resident floppers. Battier and Hayes take charges. They might "give it a little English", but they barely even recoil, which is impressive when you consider they have 250 pound men barreling into their nuts.

As far as Bullard, I don't know if the guy owes you money or something, but the dude's all right. No commentator genius, but not an egregious homer either.

Thanks for posting the video, Clutch.

By the way, there were at least two other times where Scola drew "fouls" and Bull flat out said there was no foul. Yes, he is a homer, but he's not a complete idiot.

They don't have to be unbiased not a total homer which bullard is. watching other broadcasters it is annoying to listen when they are total homers (celts). I love the lakers and warriors because they give credit to the other team when they deserved it. I thought when bill and calvin were announcing it was pretty fair in the way they called the game.

Bullard is the best announcer we have IMO. I like it when the announcer unabashedly shows his bias.

Whenever we get called for a foul....
    bullard: "THAT'S A FLOP"

Whenever we flop for a foul....
    bullard: "Great defensive play"

and yet people complain about other commentators when they are biased for their home teams as well.

matt bullard is right in regards to that play and how flopping is bad for the NBA. but it's not like none of our players flop. when they do, i don't see bullard saying anything about it.

this is why i hate listening to commentators from boston, lakers... b/c they're just as bad as bullard.

imagine what the other fans have to say when they listen to bull on LP broadband.

Okay. Let's see. It is only broadcast in the Houston area. Mostly Rockets fans watch it. And yet you want them to not be a Rockets fan and be like some of the boring-ass commentators on ESPN?

Dude. If you don't like it, turn it off or mute it.

On LP, they only broadcast the home team. It is almost always Bill & Clyde as commentators. Unless, Clyde is on vacation.

Bull does comment on flopping when our players flop. He says that it was a nice acting job by whomever is flopping. If its really good, it goes in the nominations for "flop of the week." Scola and Lowry have been nominated a quite a number of times. LOL.

I don't have a problem with the homerism on LP, but seriously please have some knowledge about basketball. An offensive foul by Houston and Portland wanted free throws because we're in the penalty. WTF, It's completely different from a defensive foul!

Scola is the only one who flops on our team and it is not as blatant as what the Blazers were doing. Anyone who thinks Shane and Hayes flops then I suggest you stop watching basketball all together. You guys amaze me sometimes.

    Lowry flops, come on.

Though I admit he rarely if ever has flopped as blatantly as what's his name did for Portland.

That was an AK47 styled flop from Bayless, ie creating a foul that did not exist.

sometimes bullard complains wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much it starts to sound like whining. Clutchfans should know what whining sounds like (Tmac). Sometimes I wish Bull would just shut up and comment the damn game instead of going off some tangent for 5 min.

Shane flops, absolutely. He flopped during the Golden State game!

Maybe you should start watching basketball.

are you refering to the two monta charges?? Those were NOT flopping. Flopping is falling when there's nothing there. Both of those were clearly charges and he just made it more obvious to the refs. The portland one on Roy was somewhat of a flop. I say "somewhat" because there was contact from Roy, but it wasn't a charge, so shane got the call because he fell. A complete flop would be what bayless did, where there's no contact or action from the other player and you fall. AK is known for those flops, it looks like there's an invisible man out there punching him. I think all players flop in some way at some point here and there, you have to when others do it so much and get away with it, it gives them an unfair advantage and eventually you have to get even...that being said, battier and chuck draw a lot of charges and few of them, if any, are complete flops. Scola and lowry do it more often, although not often i dont think.

No, I don't think I'm referring to the Monta charges. I can't remember the exact play, it was pretty non-descript.

I agree with most of your examples, that flopping is falling when there is nothing (ie what Maggette did about 4 times in the post).

Still, I know that Shane flops sometimes. It's more rare than Scola, but he flops about as much as Lowry does. I guess where I'm coming from is I believe that basketball is a contact sport. You shouldn't have to "exaggerate" a call. In my opinion "exaggerating" = "acting". There is no place for acting in sports. If someone doesn't hit you hard to enough to fall down, don't fall down!

Sounds like we're generally in agreement, but I am pretty hardcore about anti-flopping.
