mattj tell 790 to get a text line they might already have one im not sure but thats one thing thats pretty cool about 610.
Matt, I listened to you when you were just starting out on Dan Patrick's station...... Good luck to you in the new gig. DD
No doubt, I finally made the switch to 790am. Keep up the hard work no matter how difficult the journey is to get you there.
And what good fortune to be able to go head to head against John Lopez...that's like having a tv show go up against Cop Rock
I enjoy listening to Houston sports talk while living in Dallas over my iPhone. It passes the time while I'm at work. What I've heard of you when you were on 610, I've enjoyed. I've listened to Houston sports talk radio since I was about 9-10 years old. I've listened to Trupiano, Breen, O'Reilly, Franklin, etc. waaaaaaay back when KTRH was the station to listen to for sports talk. I've also heard some of the worst sports talkshow hosts ever go through Houston (Warner, Silverstein, Small, etc). lol. You're doing a good job and I hope you go down as one of the legends of Houston sports talk. Hopefully I'll be able to catch enough of your show in the mornings. Good luck.
except that J-Lo is wrecking shop in the ratings, holding a comfortable lead at #1 in the morning shows against the 3 other competing channels.
Most dumbasses here forget that 610 has been the flagship sports station for 20 years. I still recall that during the idiot Jack Pardee era Houston was #1 in radio broadcast times for a sports team. 610 dug themselves into this hole. 1560 doesn't have the bandwidth and the r****d they kept bringing on made me change along with Sean painintheass being a moron. But I've remained loyal to 610. Rich never really bothered me. Not nearly as bad as Vanderbeek, whom I've noticeably flipped off for the past two years. Lopez and his "panty" comments just made it easier this year... I'll give 790 a listen in the mornings. I may even call in about tacos...
Matt, good luck, my fellow DHS alum. I've been having a hard time trying to stream 790's; if ya'll can get that up and running, I'll definitely give ya'll a listen in the morning. Gonna miss hearing you and Wex after the Texans games. Although I'm up in the Dallas-area now, I still subject myself to the gruesome aftermath of the postgame show that has been the Texans' season to date. G'luck - you, Wex, and CP is certainly as knowledgeable a trio as there is on-air in H-town!
Best of luck, Matt. not much reason to turn the dial off of 790 anymore now. As long as you keep the sports to random rants ratio at around 75/25 as opposed to 25/75, and don't get full of yourself and think that you are 10 times funnier than you actually are, and don't go on and on with awful impressions and silly voices that make even your studio co-hosts so uncomfortable that they don't know how to best break it to you how unfunny you are....you should be ok.
Might as well post from my 5th account since I'm on a roll now. I really kept the ruse up by hiring that mexican off of Westpark to play the part of Miguel and live with me for 2 years. It started getting expensive when the ****er wanted all this expensive electronic ****. At least he had a PS3 though, the Blu Ray movies were spectacular. Only problem is now he won't go away, he followed me and Shannon to BW3 twice in the past month. Creepy.
We have told them we have to have this. For the time being, you will be able to text 790 + your message to 777111. It's not perfect (we will have a better system soon), but we work with the resources we have at this point.
