I wish I had something to say other than...seriously? If Rick Drew up a drive with 3 seconds to go...for a 6' guard..i don't really know what to say. I have lost count of how many crappy plays we have had in a one possession game. Not a knee jerk, just saying this deserves some MUCH needed attention.
Look at the players the Rockets have. Brooks is pretty much the best option. I wish he'd look more for the stop and pop jumper, though.
Golden state is a tiny team, just like us. We still play better defense so I can see why but I am just puzzled as of right now. I could think of a hundred better ways to execute that last possession. I thought it would have involved a landry screen, getting brooks a quick jumper, or landry a nice midrange shot. It is painful to see them work so hard and let everything slip away in the final second. These guys don't deserve this.
If you are going to drive to the basket, it should have been Kyle Lowry. He does a better job of finishing with contact.
i see what you are saying but who else can we go to? cant really post up landry or scola with 3 sec. going to brooks was the right play but for him to drive aimlessly into 10 people isnt
The reffs will not call that. That is common sense, there is just too much confusion going on for them to call something like that...especially against the HOME team.
Hmm, the play before that was a solid drive and kick by Brooks. They tried to go to Landry as plan A but Portland took it away. Rockets went to plan B and got a good open look to Scola and he nailed it. Not a lot you can do with 3 seconds. Plus I think they only had a 20 so not as much time to draw something up.
They don't usually call fouls in the closing seconds but it's not like they never do. A slap across the forearm could have been called. Without the foul I'd say there is a reasonable chance he puts that in off the backboard. He pulled up in the last game so I'm guessing Brooks was thinking they might expect him to do that. Either way, it's tough for a 6-footer to be your go to option in that situation and we don't really have much else we can go to with 3 seconds left. They have Roy who can go 1-on-1. We don't. Our best chance was stopping Roy at the other end.
This is what I kept saying to myself. I definitely could've seen that having a greater chance at success than Brooks going amongst the trees.
if AB could learn how to get that foul call in crunch time, we would be an elite team. i'm sure he is working on it.
Agreed. The stop and pop jumper has been one of Aaron's most effective and efficient offensive moves, but he only attempts it like once a game. He needs to realize that going to and finishing at the basket isn't his strength.
Warriors beg to differ. With teh inconsistencies the refs had all game, I am not surprised they called it. During a more consistently officiated game, that would probably be called with as much arm contact as Blake got. Not to mention he didn't get much ball.
Brooks catches the ball quickly, Pumps it initially, Player B sets up a screen. Landry goes behind, brooks passes from the key, and he can get that shot off. I've seen it many times, not sure if they could have done it there but I'm sure if they practice late game execution they should.
