I was at work sometime in 97 and was bored, so I started searching for anything about the Rockets. I think I'd been arguing with a Bulls fan about Rockets vs. Bulls and was looking for some stats to back up what I was saying and I found clutchcity.com. Been here ever since.
The first time I got on clutchfans Luther Head was the player featured in the top banner so I thought this was a Luther Head fan site and didn't return for a good 3 or 4 months
I was skeptical about Yao Ming when I heard that the Rockets were going to draft him. So I search the internet to get info about this big Chinese dude. After I found Clutchcity.net, I figured if I stuck around here, I wouldn't have to search anywhere else for Rockets stuff.
I stumbled across the site sometime in 1998 or 99. I used to download all the wallpapers from Dave Cerebro (what happened to that guy anyway?). I actually think I registered on the bbs back in 99 (probably a steve francis type moniker, man I used to love that guy, lol) but I didn't care much about forums back then so I forgot about it. I still went to the site pretty often for Rockets news but I don't recall ever bothering with the bbs. I started looking at the forum again in 2007 and re-joined shortly after that.
When I moved to Dallas and had no Rockets outlet, I found the Rockets Circle of sites (something like that) through a search. There were a bunch of sites. Clutchcity.com was the best of the lot. Been here ever since. I was an unregistered lurker for years until the switch to clutchfans, when I had to register.
Used to post on the MSNBC baskeball board back in 97 when a Rockets fan directed me here. Finally joined the board as "Astro the Rocket" in '98, suffered through incredibly boring times of the lockout, then lazily didn't reregister until May of '99. Been AstroRocket ever since.
I dunno... I was on the Saveourrockets.com thing... it was a big deal at the time. I don't remember how long it took me to get here, I think I had a different moniker originally, but I can't remember if that was the SOR site or this one. Anyway, Voodoopope reminded me this was here and mentioned the forums and I came back and it took, despite all you wackos running amok.
Just via some search engine, back in '96, I think, maybe '97. There weren't so many sites back then, so it was pretty easy to find the good ones. I remember .com, then .net, then the switch to clutchfans. My account was blocked a few years, and I still don't know why. Came here on the off chance, and it's working again. This could be an aberration, so it may be a flying visit!
Got involved in save our Rockets dot com and found it that way. Oddly enough, I've been visiting the site since the 90's, but I didn't find the actual bbs part of the site until 2002. I think I found it by accident, to tell you the truth.
In 1997, some guy on the radio mentioned it was the best NBA site on the web. I lurked for 4 years before joining in 2001.
I'm a native Houstonian. One of my buddies mentioned clutchcity back in 97 or 98. Whether I've been home in Houston or on the road this place has been an oasis for me since.
an old member, Mr. Oily, was a member of another forum and mentioned it to me. There was a guy accusing him of leaching bandwidth because of a squirrel image he direct linked. I think I might be able to search and find it.
