The fact that 1/3 of people on here wouldn't sell out to take Kobe says a lot.

Kyle Lowry can get to the foul line much better than Kobe. That means he is an elite player. And if he can do that better than Kobe, that must mean he is better than Kobe. It doesn't matter if he can't shoot because he can get to the free throw line. And he plays better defense than Kobe. WHen Yao Ming returns, Lowry should start over Kobe....

As much as I love lowery... This is stupid... Can I just say that I liked lowery since his rookie year. So that should say how stupid this is, of course its Kobe, even though I hate the guy

That's exactly the OP's point. He just wanted to see if people on this board cared enough about a player's character enough to pass on a huge contributor like Kobe for the sake of one's values or whatnot.

I, for one, was torn a bit on this poll and didn't vote. Obviously, Kobe is huge and would get us a whole lot more W's, but I don't know if I'd really care and support the team as much because I flat out can't stand the man. I don't mindlessly cheer behind an R for a win; I have to like the team members too.

People b**** and moan about the Celtics all day long on this board (and rightfully so), but I wonder how many of you would swap teams with them in a heartbeat for the added W's.

Still, it was just an incendiary thread and it's not going to change anyone's opinion so it's pretty pointless. It just confirms what we already knew.

it only says the majority of fans on this board are both fans of the rockets anbd basketball, while 1/3 are just fans of the rockets...

Haha, this is true, and I would probably come around to have him playing on the team eventually, truth be told. I'm just saying that as a Rockets fan, I wouldn't be 100% behind the move to bring him in just because I don't want to root for him.

But you're right; it's probably just me hating him just being so good. Or maybe it's his fans. Or maybe it's some Pavlovian response from the fact that whenever I compliment his game, my girlfriend gives me one of those looks because of the whole rape thing. Who knows.

It'll never happen anyways, so it's no big deal either way. =P

Thanks guys for some of the great posts. Apart from the combustible nature of this thread I'd say it went pretty well since it didn't turn into a T-mac thread.

Sorry if I upset some of the Kobe nuthuggers.

IMO, the reason Kobe is so hated is because he is just damn good at what he does. and people just hate it because he isn't on their team

I bet if Kobe was drafted by rockets and stayed here, we'd worship him no matter how big of a douche he is

Kyle Lowry was once compared to Kobe Bryant, just because the person was a Tmac fan trying to prove a point. He is the most interesting man in the world

I think it would have been better to choose someone not as good as Kobe. Kobe's the best player in the world, it would be foolish not to give up Lowry for him. You could have had a similar thread asking about Kevin Martin, Joe Johnson or even Andre Iguadala and gotten better results. Just my opinion.
