We were in Houston a couple of weeks ago for a wedding and, today we get a ticket in the mail for apparently running a red light in Jersey Village. The thing is the 2 pictures they showed were 3 seconds apart. In the first you can see my wife's brake lights obviously on. The speed says she was going 10. Three seconds later she is about 10 feet further and still going 10 but turning right. I know she stopped and I am pretty sure she was stopped in the first picture. In it there is another car coming up behind her and in the second that car was still moving towards the light. I feel like the speed was either catching the second car or off because it seems pretty well impossible for her to be going 10 in both pictures and only have traveled 10 feet. What is the best way to fight these any advice?
Well in their defense maybe, the ticket was from a camera system and the return is in Arizona. I am guessing no one in Jersey Village even had anything to do with it. At least until we dispute it.
You can write in to dispute it. I was helping out b/c he is disputing one also. He got one for a rolling stop at a red light. He went and took pictures of the signs that indicates there is a camera at the corner b/c it was completely blocked by a tree. The law is that the sign must be visible. Also, if your request is denied, you still have a right to fight it in court. So no harm done other than a couple of minutes filling out the statement and explaining your story.
I don't know about Jersey Village, but I think some of the websites actually have a video option. I remember a friend talking about a son complaining about a ticket and the video showed he did not stop.
The ticket I got, there was a website I could go on and look at more pictures and it showed a video of the incident. It was violationinfo.com
