Tonight is the final episode for the Monk series. The killer of his late wife Trudy, alluded to in each season over the past 8 years, is finally revealed. I have to say, watching every episode for all 8 seasons, it was one of the best television programs of this decade. I can't think of anyone who's done a better acting job in television than Tony Shalhoub- think Dustin Hoffman in Rainman for 8 years- truly one of the best, as well as Ted Levine (aka Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs) as Captain Stottlemyre.

Also, it really has given me a better understanding of people who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Obviously, the show only looks at the most extreme form of this, but does shed a thoughtful light on it.

Favorite Episodes: The one where he takes the pills and loses all his OCD tendencies, the 100th episode, and the one at the basketball game.

Thanks to all the cast for giving 110% on each episode. Or, as Monk would say, 50% of the cast gave 110% and the other 50% gave 90% so that there was an even 100% balance.

i was never a religous watcher, but every time i stumbled across it, i had to watch the entire episode.

I will look forward to watching the re-runs over the years. Wonder what Antonio Scarpacci will do next?

No one said it was a major hit (although it was the highest-rated show on USA for years)- but does that really have anything to do with a show's quality? If that were the case, Desperate Housewives and 2 and a Half Men would be considered the best in their genre- and those shows are among the bottom tier as far as I'm concerned.

Wow, I'm stupid- I didn't realize you meant "take a hit" as in the show taking a hit in its popularity. I sounded like I just "took a hit" off of something before I posted that, right? Damn, that is very embarrassing. I duly apologize, RR.

In your defense I read it the same way. The capital "I" threw it off a little.

Anyhoo, I wasn't a fan of Natalie at first, but now I prefer her. I think she adds a great dynamic to the show.

    Classic Moments:

    1. The one mentioned above, the basketball game, where the girl says, "I'm going to give 110% percent!" and Monk says she can't do that, so he says, "OK, you try 110%, you give 90%, you give 125%, and you only give 75%." Then, when the 75% girl makes a basket, he yells, "No, you're only supposed to give 75%!!"

    2. The jury one, where they're all bound and gagged, then Monk manages to slip a knife out of the bag, and instead of cutting people loose, uses it to fix the window blinds that are out of whack.

    3. The one in the casino, where he keeps trying to clean the blackjack table with his finger and the dealer gives him cards.

    4. The one with the garbage strike where he Fed Ex's his garbage to his psychiatrist.

    5. The one where he's an umpire and he's taking so long to straighten up each batter's uniform and clean home plate that the coach is tutoring his kids on their assignments in the dugout.

    6. When they ask him to go to a rock concert and he honestly thought it was going to be a rock collection exhibition.

    7. The one with Snoop Doggy Dogg where he agrees to be his security guard.

    8. where he gets hypnotized

    No Worries. It happens . . .
I like the show. I preferred Sharona over Natalie.
    Natalie did grow on me.
[I like the episode with the Black chick from Reno 911]

I will miss the show when it is gone.

    no Monk

The ending was too "sad" :(

I would've preferred Lt Fisher to stay.
