Personally, I think it's a matter of bad shot selection and continuing to jack it up even though he's missing the contested shots... Either that or Rafer Alston's illegimate son has come to haunt us.
He is just a poor shooter. I just wish he had shot for LA in the playoff series against us like he normally does.
He was actually a really good shooter in the reg. season. His statistics actually dropped in the playoffs.
He isn't a bad shooter if he sets his feet and is open. It is just his inability to dribble leaving him taking terrible shots against defenders.
very bad shot selection. the ugliest is when he picks up his dribble and tries to go up and under. fugly to say the least.
He's not a star. He's a role player. Landry and Brooks are closer to being stars than Ariza is. IMO some of his shots should go to Landry and Brooks instead.
Landry first option unless Brooks is hot, which in that case Brooks should be doing it all because when he is hot he is beastly. Otherwise, Landry is a legit 20/10. Ariza really shouldn't be a first option in our offense, he is not well suited to it.
ariza shoots way too many 3s. but hes got the green light so its up to the coach to tell him to drive more. i blame adelman
I don't think people realize the strength and endurance it takes to be a consistent scorer. Ariza has never taken this many shots or played this many minutes in his entire pro life. I see him trying to make plays, but his plays aren't finished because of his strength or lack of. Those up and under post moves when guys are bumping on you are difficult if you don't have strong balance. I also hate to see him take so many three vs coming to the rim. He should never 23 shots. I dont think he should ever take more than 14 shots, but with the limitations they have, he takes them.
I hate to say this, but he doesn't have any talent to be like once Tracy did. He can't shot, he can't dribble good enough to be a superstar. Just role player.
i actually don't mind him taking volume shots. i think he'll get better at it. his current percentage should be real incentive for him working on his handles, and figuring what his highest percentage shots are. kinda makes you realize, its hard to play both ends 100%
From what I can tell he is doing exactly what the coach and GM want him to do, so I can't really fault him or label him a chucker. He just needs to make more or the coaches need to reevaluate.
ariza is simply not good enough to get 20 clean looks a night like most stars. hes a role player trying to play like a star but he can't create his shot when he dribbles. his best offense is when he slashes and spot up shoots.
With a starting lineup that includes Ariza, Hayes, and Battier it seems like we are playing 2 against 5 on offense. It still amazes me that we are averaging about 100 points a game.
He's not very good at creating his own shot, did anybody expect him to score like Kobe or Melo or something? I was surprised alone how good he was in the beginning of the season. He'll get better when Yao comes back since he's an off-ball player.
He's a good shooter. It's just that he's expected to do more with us so he attempts way too many shots.
I have taken into consideration the big role chance for him on a much weaker side, and the amount of time it takes to integrate into an evolving situation but 1-9 from 3 point land is just not acceptable by any stretch of imagination. RA has got to make some modifications now.
It's pretty obvious he's not a starter. He's better off coming off the bench type of player. Who the hell he think he is? A superstar on the team? I would rather have Scola, Landry and Brooks be the main scorer before Ariza.
