This team really needs to find a way to rely less on the three pointers. Teams like SA and Dallas seemed to have figured the Rockets' offense out: three pointers or drive inside off the rotation. I think I saw the fourth catch and shoot off a screen from mid-range all season by the Rockets during the game. Honestly, the Chronicle reported that Jermaine Taylor would not see very many minutes because of his inability to catch and shoot. Well, I don't think there is anyone on this team that can catch and shoot (other than McGrady). I've seen Budinger do it three times and hit once and Brooks do it once and miss. The team is still trying to find itself but the scouting report is out, at least until T-Mac returns.
I just think the situation needs to be solved ASAP. 1) Trade him 2) Play him Either of those moves has to be done for the good of the organization.
Cause he is not healthy, and is favoring his knee. He has not played competitive basketball in nearly a year..... The organization is doing what is right for itself and TMac. DD
I know what you're going to say, but i'm going to ask you and maybe i'll get an objective answer. Do you think the rockets are being cautious because of maybe a long term investment?
As much as I think they are going to jettison him, and all indicators are that they are, and in all honesty I doubt Tmac would even sign here again. Sure, they could be doing that, but if they are, they should be communicating that to Tracy..... DD
You know, Shaud.... ...I imagine it's got to be pretty tough on Chuck Hayes right now, personally. His limitations offensively are glaring (especially after a game like he had last night against San Antonio). So glaring, especially with Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady out of the lineup, that I think most of us don't realize just how good a player Hayes is. We may need to take a minute or three to examine that sentiment. If I had to choose between Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier just on a player-for-player basis, I'd take Hayes, no question. Because Hayes is much more versatile than Battier, especially as a defender, Shaud. Hayes can stop a guard's penetration on pick and roll plays and recover to his own man. He can keep post players from getting ideal deep post position against him. He can keep smaller, quicker players in front of him, and bigger players from bullying him on their way to the basket. In his own unique way, Shaud, Hayes is as much of a freak as Yao or McGrady is. We've gotten to see Hayes a bit more offensively than we would like because of attrition, but I've been especially surprised at how well Hayes has managed to function a a high-post passer. He's even put the ball on the floor on occasion and gotten to the basket. Not something I think the Rockets need to make a steady diet out of, but still very nice to see. The one thing I believe Hayes could do to become a more viable offensive player, is to develop a jumpshot. Especially as a player at the high post, if Hayes could shoot the ball consistently from 15-feet, he'd do wonders for the Rockets, whatever incarnation they're in. Hayes reminds me a great deal of Charles Oakley, a rugged interior defender who actually became a pretty serviceable jumpshooter over time. Hayes is very intelligent, tough, and a good basketball player to boot, Shaud. He's overmatched from time to time offensively (especially against a player like Tim Duncan), but if there's any player on the team right now that could lay claim to being a "glue" guy, it would be Hayes, in my opinion. If Hayes were more of a consistent offensive threat (particularly from 15-foot), I think it could be possible for the Rockets to keep him on the floor, along with both Luis Scola and Carl Landry at the end of games, Shaud. Landry and Scola are the two most consistent offensive players for the Rockets right now. I think that there has to be a way to get the both of them on the floor at the same time, without giving up too much interior (or even perimeter) defense. I don't think Hayes could become a jumpshooter during the season, Shaud. But he should seriously consider working on developing that. The Rockets need Chuck Hayes now more than ever.....
Maybe this, and not some grand referee conspiracy, is the reason we're not getting to the line very much?
We need a guy that can step up during the scoring droughts. We need tmac. he will draw double teams. Hes another versatile scorer. We need him bad. We cant play like this for the rest of the season. we wont beat good teams like this.
ariza, battier and hayes together on the floor = struggle in halfcourt sets if teams get back on transition D on us then having those 3 together on the floor is like pulling teeth these days, puts too much pressure on AB to create on his own which he's been struggling lately, especially trying to drive into the lane
a chinese media says after practice he talked to his teamates, and watched the game in the vip room. here's a pic before game
I don't think u have to say it, but I think the point they want him healthy means something. If they didn't care about his future, they would throw him out there and if he got re injured, who cares? I can tell you, if the rox offered tracy lamar odom money,he's resigning. He loves houston, his family likes it, he's has a great relationship with les. Likve said, his value is the contract, not his play this yr. They can really put him out there limping or when he's has a setback, its a wrap for pretty much his career.
Thing is.. He seems to be 'feeling' good... start him with limited minutes help him get back in game shape Then slowly start upping his minutes if he still feels good.. The Rockets really have nothing to lose. Unless we are planning to trade him, and the other team wants to make sure he's good. Which I doubt
I'd love to see him play as well, and sometimes think the way you're thinking.. But then I think about what's BEST. I now understand why(SPECULATION) the organization is doing this.. The team can continue to give minutes to Ariza, Budinger as they develop while playing it safe with McGrady's health.
