I highly doubt it. I know I myself could never do it.

How great would it be if Lebron, Wade, and Bosh all conspired to take the minimum and joined forces on a team.

And how great would it be if that team were the Rockets.

    Moochie Norris
    Dwayne Wade
    Lebron James
    Chris Bosh
    Ming Yao

Didn't LeBron say he wanted to be the richest basketball player?

He said he wanted to be the first athlete to earn a billion dollars (which can't happen since Tiger is there or reaaaaally close) since he's pretty darn close to being the richest active NBA player.

I agree. A player like LeBron gaming the salary cap system undermines the fairness of the playing field.

And, I don't think it'd do much for his reputation or his endorsement dollars. Even if he could win championships like that, he'd have to share the credit with other legit stars, and he wouldn't look as good as a player because he'd have to do less work on the court.

passing up a guaranteed $50 mm is way easier said than actually done, even considering LeBron's fortune and future earning power.

If he was such a die hard player for this organization why does he keep on hating so much (i.e. Yao being a scrub, Rockets worst team in the West etc)? Based on his attitude I would assume that were he the chance to do it again, he would tell the Rox to suck it.

Look, there's no way any sane human being will do this, no matter how much you want your "ring".

    1. Paycut-who among here would willingly go to your boss and tell him you want to earn 5% of your original salary to help the company because of the crisis, esp. if you're the only one to do it? Its not even a question of money, IMHO there's something really unsatisfying about working for peanuts when other guys who are inferior to you end up making more money. No way LBJ signs for the min in Cleveland when guys like Varejao earn 8 mill a year.

    2. Prestige-signing for the min just to get a ring won't get LBJ any respect, even if they win multiple titles. Fans and other players would give him the P.J. excuse and say any scrub could win if he already had Bosh, Wade and a healthy supporting cast. In this case it would definitely be true-Bosh, Wade a good cast are contenders. Add in LBJ? Forget about it.

Seeing as how LBJ is gunning to be both the GOAT and the richest bball player ever, I don't see it happening.

Articles in '07 are not exactly relevant any more, especially now that he's tasted elusive success.

That said, I agree, his ego will force him to want a max contract.

Interesting, i don't see him taking the league minimum,
but i can fathom taking around 9-10 mil for 2-3years,.
That would be a ridiculous team lebron, wade, bosh.

ego? who wouldn't want a max contract at such a young age. I'm sure most of us would take the max first.

    1. the average persons legacy is not determined through there 9 to 5 job. Lebron's is, if he becomes worried that he cant win with the type of teams that he has been playing on i dont think he would choose money over winning.

    2. There was a couple seasons where larry hughes was making like 11 mil more per season than lebron.

    1. I think Lebron already made it clear he's putting priority on winning more than money. Otherwise why bother stringing the Cavs along this season? Cavs are the only team who can offer him more money, he's already taking a paycut by signing with another team. However making winning your priority is one thing, signing for the min is ridiculous.

    2. This was because LBJ was making a rookie scale contract. LBJ has always made the max, and even his rookie scale contract was higher than Hughes because he was a number 1 pick.

Nobody would ever take the league minimum after making 20 million a year.

Also I guarantee you that people would just say that LeBron is stacking a team and is a cheater b/c he cant win it on his own.

lebron isnt taking a minimum for a ring. it would have to be bosh or wade. and what would be even funnier is if the rockets beat them.
