They needed to get mad in that game! They should have fouled the egg-and-ovaries out of the Mavs every time those guys attempted a wide open jumper or layup; THAT would have gotten the crowd going. I would've been happy with a couple of Kevin McHale-esque clothesline fouls. Trip somebody or slap them silly god damn it!

Rockets served us up a turkey with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving.

It is always hard to watch the Rockets lose to the ponies but they are going to pose a matchup problem for the Rockets this year every time they face them.

Dallas came in with confidence and energy and the Rox looked nervous from the beginning. They don't have confindence against this team.

On transition defense the Rox were slow getting back, Dal used the P&R to get AB to switch and in mismatches and AB let Bubouis get into his head and get him in foul trouble. As per usual Dallas gets touch foul calls and Rox get hammered and don't get shooting fouls and when they did get a call they didn't make their free throws. Lack of ball movement or bad passing lead to turnovers, contested/missed shots and fast breaks with easy layups. I only saw one forced charge, that has got to change. The Rox just don't have the size in the paint to defend it any other way.

I don't expect big things from the Rockets this year, they are actually doing better than I thought they would. But the defensive effort just was not there last night.

Time to put this one in the past, regroup, and move on.

Just saw that what we have is not good enough....... might work for this year. for the second rd again or WC finals it must be somebody else. We're not OKC or some other team. Having veterans on the team does not mean we're totally old like the old Spurs. I mean are you serious the oldest one is 31????

I missed the game last night. But when i found the rockets lost by31, somehow it didn't supprise me at all. Mavs is a good team and with the roster now the rockets is not likely to beat any good team. I'm affraid they'll be out of fuel soon and start a losing streak.

I remember watching the Mavs beat the crap out of the Rockets a few years ago with my non-basketball fan roommate. I remember him saying about the Mavs, "So does this team do nothing but practice shooting all the time? They never miss. 'Hey guys, in today's practice, we're going to be shooting. Okay, practice time again - time for more shooting. Hey, I think we need more work on our shooting. Damn, missed a shot, guess we need to shoot around some more...'" I'm sad to say but it appears nothing ever changes when it comes to the Mavericks lighting up the Rockets.

With Yao and without McGrady, yes.

Nope, not unless they get 2 more stars in return. Someone like Josh Smith to hide Yao's weaknesses I.E rebounding/physical play. What Stromile Swift was suppose to be.

It's on me. The second I sat down they started that 27 point run. I almost just got up and walked out. We were up like 28-15 or something with 5 minutes left in the quarter when I literally sat in my seat and watched the Mavericks score on what felt like 50 straight possessions. Miserable.

Seeing as that this is like the 5th consecutive game that I have attended and we lost, I will no longer be attending games. Back to the couch.

A better offense that has a reliable ball-handler like T-Mac would prevent stupid turnovers and horrible shots, which will prevent transition buckets from the other teams. Yes, a better offense would improve our defense.

Isn't McGrady notorious for taking horrible, low-percentage shots? What are his shooting percentages since joining the Rockets? He also doesn't get to the line like he used to and that was before the latest injuries.

McGrady's been on the floor more than once when we've been whooped by the Dirk-led Mavs, including that 40+ point debacle in Game 7 a few years ago. For all we know, we could've lost just as bad or even worse last night with McGrady in the mix.

I don't disagree with your argument that better offense can help your defense. I'm just not sure McGrady even brings that to the table anymore. Didn't we have a stretch of games to start this season where our offense has been more efficient than anytime during the McGrady era?

And beyond the fact that "better offense makes a better defense," there is also the fact that "better defense makes a better defense." Unfortunately, I think McGrady would be worse than Battier, Ariza and probably even Budinger at this point given the fact that his defense was spotty even before the microfracture surgery.

The young McGrady was a tremendous defensive player but over his tenure with the Rockets, he typically only dug down and played good defense a few possession per game. What should we expect defensively now that he's over 30 going into his 13th season following knee surgery?

    He's a career .436 shooter.

T-Mac got us to the game 7 against Dallas. Without him we wouldn't have been close.

His last two basically healthy seasons he's averaged more than 5 free throws per season.

You are right about the field goal percentage though.

But I think we still need T-Mac to play a stabilizing role on the team.
