Ok, maybe that's a tad dramatic, but Clutch got to the airport this morning ready to head to California for the summer league games and, wouldn't you know it, he got heavily delayed due to some bad weather. I spoke to him a few minutes ago and he's still in the airport, won't leave until 1pm and won't get to California until 5pm missing the game today. Anyway, he wanted me to post and let everyone know he's still going and will try to go to the games tonight and see if he can't see some Rockets players there. He will definitely be at the game tomorrow as well. Ironically, while waiting in line, he met Curtis Borchardt who just got drafted by the Jazz. He said that if we think Yao is a rail, wait 'til you see Borchardt. He said he looked like a giant tennis player. So, everybody think of Clutch today knowing he'll be sitting in airports instead of watching games.
Man, that blows. I hope he can hook up with some of our players, they should know who he is (the players obviously must come to this site!)
You should put the title of this thread as the headline of the front page--people will start thinking clutch is on the summer league team
How long would it take to run a wand detector along Borchardt? "Sir, could you take off your shoes? We think you're hiding Osama in there."
Jeff, all the bb players look thin. I remember when I had a chance, through a Nigerian friend, to meet the Rockets right outside of their dressing room. I was there along with all the great looking 6" tall women who like to meet the team. Only Hakeem looked like a normally proportionated 5'10" athletic guy. All the rest looked like tall skinny guys.
If he gets there at 5:00 PM, why would he miss the game? The front page says that today's game is not until 9:30.
Most basketball players look awkward. Like the body isn't proportional. all except shaq. He's the exception.
I'm not sure what time zone the times Jeff posted are in, but the local game time is 7:30 (9:30 in Houston). If he's landing at LAX, then he may have problems, I'm not sure. If he's landing in Long Beach, there shouldn't be too much of a delay since it's a small airport.
Or, perhaps it is that he is arriving at LA at 5:00 pacific time, and the time of the game listed on the front page is central time...meaning that it will be starting in LA at 7:30...so he only has 2 1/2 hours. Damn time zones! Why can't we all just go by the same time?! Lousy farmers.
Doc, what are you doing posting on the BBS right now? Aren't you supposed to be running along the beaches, frollicking about like you don't have a care in the world while many scantily clad women laugh at nothing in particular and hang all over you? Isn't that what happens in California?
Oh man I hope Clutch can make it, if he leaves there exactly at 1pm than it should take 4 hours or so, than he will be here at 5pm houston time. That means he will be here at 3pm LA time. Give him 1hr to check out of the airport and maybe another for car rental and one more for maybe hotel check in, he might get to the games about 7pm with traffic and all as long as there's not more delays hopefully. The game is at 7:30pm here so Good luck Clutch!
Oh yeah!!! --insert altered vocals-- CALIFORNIA LOOOOOOOOOOVEEE! Dr of DUNK is a CALI CHICK MAGNET!! GO DOC GO
maybe he'll wear a name tag with "clutch" on it so they know who he is i hope he has lots of fun when he gets there. d0d - im glad you got there safely.
UPDATE: Ok, Clutch is back on schedule. For some reason, he thought the game started at 3pm LA time, not 7:30pm, so he should be there close to game time. Here's the crazy story... He is currently now in Dallas at the airport. He was taking a flight from Austin to there and then LA but was bumped several times. He ended up renting a car with some other guy that got bumped (trying to push back the thoughts of Planes, Trains and Automobiles here ) and driving to Dallas. He is now supposed to be on a flight that gets him to LAX around 5pm. Once he picks up his luggage and rents his car, he'll have to slug it out on the 405 (oh, my GOD!!! ) to get to Long Beach prior to the game. Should be really interesting. He was really glad to find out the game was later and that he might actually make it. Keep your fingers crossed. He said he would call me at halftime with details. Until then...
