Yeah me too. He had his occasional mini meltdowns but he definitely played with some intensity and passion.
Last year, Jennings just came out high school and 0 years of pro ball. Wafer has 6 years on him and 4 years of pro ball.
Jennings was the #10 pick in his draft and Wafer was the 39th pick. I think the point made was that statistics don't translate directly from Euroleague to NBA. Looking at the numbers, Tau Ceramica was last year's highest scoring team with an average output of 86.3pts per game. In the same year, the Suns averaged 109.4pts per game. That's a pretty huge differential. Anyway, with Wafer, I don't think the issue is necessarily his performance -- he's a pretty good scorer (albeit a black hole) but his head is just not right... It wasn't for lack of ability that made it hard for him to find another contract with the Rockets ...
If anybody can give Von some most needed help on how to survive in Euroleague, it would be the European Tmac, ex-rockets V Span.
Brandon Jennings averaged 15.5 ppg. I would expect any 4 year pro to be able get at least double figures in the Euroleague. He doesn't have to match Jennings, but at least a scrub like Nachbar. Nachbar even scored double figures, last year, for Dynamo Moscow.
Don't tell me that Nachbar a stud pick at 15, and that's why he was able avg more than 10 pts while Von Wafer can't. Nachbar played more like a 2nd round pick than a borderline lottery pick. There are more NBA dropouts besides Nachbar that have gone over to Europe and averaged double digit pts.
Granted you may be right. I wonder if Von Wafer's low production IS from his performance, or is it from personality issues/conflicts with the coach. one interesting stat I saw in one of the sites linked in the GARM showed 3 Rockets among the top 50 in the league for adjusted +/- last year --- Yao, Ron, and Von (which surprised me).
He's played 3 games, don't put too much stock in his PPG numbers. How many minutes is he averaging per game? But yeah, this is unfortunate and I was rooting for him to do well over there and loved his contributions last season for us.
Overeaction, thy name is this thread. Sometimes a player needs to learn who is in charge...... No big deal. DD
He's a basketball player, if he doesn't know the coach overrules a player by now, he's in the wrong business
This made me laugh for some reason! I needed a laugh from the non-stop Con Law studying. Thanks!
