On the news tonite they ran a story about Homeowners insurance goin up all over the place and yes, it has affected me.
Granted I have a crappy old Heights house and my insurance is gonna jump from around 620 per year to 1000bucks per year, thats still around 50 bucks more per month I gotta pay?

    Has this affected you?
What are you doing about it?
What the heck should I do?
Anyone got any good deal insurance companies they could turn me on to?

    thanks:)

You're screwed. Everyone gets hit. We're all paying for the mold damage. I'd suggest you get your house inspected for mold before your current policy expires. That's what I'm intending to do.

mr_oily...... My parents were talking recently about how their insurance has gone up a lot... I think they were hoping it was a mistake at first because surely it wouldn't jump up that much... but it did..

    my aunt's did as well...

we're affected too... it sux. nothing like your monthly mortgage going up...

now HISD wants to raise taxes too! they need 800 million in bonds for new schools, school repairs, etc... this goes to a vote in November. If the vote passes, get ready to pay more in taxes also!!!!

My insurance went up roughly 80%. Not only are we paying for the mold damage, but my new policy has a minimum amount of black mold coverage as standard in the policy. I also had the option of purchasing additional mold coverage.

Does this cover the green fuzzy mold that I get on my old bread and burger buns?

    Oh well, it's just money.

Everyone is paying more for insurance because a few lawyers decided to get greedy and concince everyone that "toxic" mold is invading there homes.

Most of the cases of "toxic" mold have actually been proven to be harmless.

If you live in Houston your going to have mold.

    Damn!!! 80%
Hmmmm wait aminute I figure my old and new policy out, I'll only be paying 29.92 extra per month. Thats not so bad as long as they don't hassle me.

What mold?! I don't get it, don't have it.
I'm about to remove all those crappy asbestos tiles from my house a repaint my house "deMenil Grey".

It's called Black Mold.....it is supposedly toxic and can get into your house, damage it, and cause you medical harm supposedly.

Blah blah blah...next thing you know, they'll tell us grilling your food will cause cancer too.

    Oh..wait....
