i dont think adelman is worried about mcgrady fitting in. I think he is more worried about the situation his health is in, and whether or not mcgrady is coming back for good, and not just in and out of the line up.
This first post of the above poster was worthy of my first post response! What he said is the bottom line. RA is a great coach, but he needs to put ego aside and play Tmac asap so that the fans can get some more of what their money is worth. Unless and until Tmac is ever traded, HE IS A ROCKET and the haters to me are not true fans! I believe he will be the best player on the floor if he plays soon and easily the best wing player. Our current team will be hard to beat with a healthy Tmac on the floor, imo.
I though the examine was supposed to be today anyway. Eh, either way, I hope he is fine and can contribute to the team. Although the surprise return of McGrady's back problems is something I thought we were long over.
RA your killing me... Tmac's on my fantasy team... So is griffin and tyrus and dampier... but thats a whole nother issue.... grrr
RA is being selfish. If Tmac comes back and carries this team to a winning record and a playoff appearance, then he will get all of the credit and RA will be forgotton. If RA manages to get these young guys to have a decent season w/out Tmac and end the season with a decent record, then he will get all of the credit and will get some coach of the year talk. If RA does not want to play our superstar, then RA needs to go. The way I look at it is that RA is a big Ron Artest supporter. Ron Artest is a Douchebag and a traitor, misses practices, comes onto the team bus in his underwear, so what kind of credibility does RA get for supporting him? True colors right there.
Yes you are correct, Tracy McGrady has been under the Adelman system for quite sometime. You would think after playing under a coach for 2 years you would know his coaching style. Like Rick Adelman said, its a process for McGradys return. He wants to take time and not rush McGradys return because he knows that Tracy can be part of this team and contribute. He doesn't want Tracy to comeback and not be 100%, Rick Adelman WANTS Tracy.
he is good but I can only see him being a solid starter. He can not compete with the other all-star caliber two guards in any shape or form. He would first have to get passed guys like Roy, Melo, Durant, Kobe, possibly ariza, long-shot t-mac. I don't think he will ever be a league with these guys, He can shoot I give him that, his handles aren't good enough though and those aren't something that get drastically better at this stage. The I way I see it too is he is a very CONTAINABLE scorer in this league. To be an allstar you gotta be a pretty darn good 2-way player or just an unstoppable offensive force that can get it anywhere, any time. (See Healthy pre-modern T-mac.)
Until a grievence is filed with the union, i'm not really worrying about the posters that say he won't play soon.
I would have to disagree with you here. Rick Adelman is a great coach, with or without a superstar. Look what he has done so far. You think that will be forgotten? What about last year against the Lakers in round 2. I still hear about that on ESPN and TNT. Rick Adelman is not being selfish, he is being cautious on Tracy McGradys situation. McGrady will come back when the time is right. HE WILL PLAY THIS YEAR!
Dude you could of had somebody else in McGrady's spot all this time, that would of helped your fantasy. One guy cannot affect your fantasy league, especially this deep in the season, with the exception of LeBron James.
What happens if he gets the OK to play and the team just doesn't play him? Nothing the union can do about it........ This is just a bizzare situation. And what happened to your "The Rockets will sign him to a $10 million dollar extension for 4 years" stance? DD
I just picked him up yesterday and if the new is bad today, then he is dropped. I have Danny Granger Paul Pierce Gilbert Areneas Chauncey Billups etc All of them were picked for me though since I couldn't log on Yahoo to draft.
Congratulations - you've wasted your first post response on a ridiculous claim that you agree with. Essentially, you guys are saying "Hey, we don't care about wins-losses.. we just want to see McGrady!" "I'm a season ticket holder, and I'm not going to renew next year if they don't start playing McGrady!" Are you guys not real fans? Do you only care about McGrady, and could give two sh!ts about the team success? To all the people calling Adelman selfish, he has an ego.. WTF is wrong with you? How do you put one player over a team's success? McGrady hasn't played NBA basketball since last year - he hasn't even gone through a FULL NBA practice yet. Yet you want him magically inserted back into the rotation, at the expense of a team thats playing well and giving it their all? Do you even know for a fact that McGrady can go full speed and give it his all yet? Of course you don't. You know who would know? Rick Adelman. To the guy who said he would not renew his season tickets if McGrady wasn't back by a certain time - please, don't renew them. The less ignorant fans we have in the stands, the better. I'm a fan of the Houston Rockets. Not Tracy McGrady's Rockets. I love how our team is playing right now, going all out every night and scrapping for wins. Could McGrady help our team? I don't know. I'd like to hear about him going through a FULL practice before I even speculate on it - but I guess I just care about winning more than entertainment.
Rick Adelman's coaching record speaks volumes compared to your posting record. True color right there.
I think you guys are reading way too much into that Adelman quote. His hesitance doesn't mean he necessarily wants Tracy off the team. As a coach, it's not just healthy/unhealthy, black/white. He is concerned with getting this guy up to speed with the rest of the team. It's not surprising that he wouldn't want to just throw him out there without any practices under his belt. Now obviously, I'm sure we all agree that they do want to trade him, but these quotes don't really tell us anything more than the natural concerns of a coach trying to win games.
These guys are either stirring the pot or 5 years old by the way they throw these tantrums. Anyone with a brain paying attention to the team over the last 3 seasons shouldn't have any complaints about how things are turning out.
For those who think RA is being a stiff here — Of course he has to worry about how Tmac fits in with the new flow. Of course he has to be sure Tmac is physically ready. And as far as this being RA's contract year? I seriously doubt that there is even the slightest division on this issue among Les, RA and DM. He has a voice in this, but not playing Tmac right now is not his call alone.
You're kidding, right? It has to be an attempt at sarcasm. Otherwise, with all due respect, I'd have to say that's one of the dumbest posts I've read in a long time.
