Would ya'll trade Eddie Griffin for Kenyon Martin? I know i would, cause Martin will no doubt be better than Eddie...Um...thats all. p.s You guys can't say wrong forum cause its under game action & ROSTER MOVES.
I disagree, Griffen is already a much better shooter and shot blocker. And with experience he will surpass him in all area's of the game. Plus Kenyon at times tends to be a bit out of control.
Why waste our time with a wrong forum when we could just as easily say dumb idea. Kenyon will no doubt be better than Eddie?? No doubt??? His range ends at the paint man, Eddies starts at the door to the gym. Defensively its a wash. So how exactly is he "no doubt" better than Eddie again?
Uh, right. Because Martin was #1 in what looks to be one of the worst drafts in the last 20 years? Martin is a little bit better than average PF. What you see now is basically what you get-he was a 4 year product, very polished. He's not gonna get much better. Griffin, on the other hand... Right now, Griffin... a.) is taller and longer. b.) is 4.5 years younger. c.) is an equal if not better shot blocker (averaged more in less minutes). d.) is a better rebounder. e.) has more range on his shot. Martin scored 14.9 ppg. How many of those were open court lobs from Kidd? Consider it similar to the Stockton-Shandon effect. There's no doubt in my mind that Eddie Griffin in 4 years will be putting this past year's K-Mart to shame. I think we may even see it within the next 2 years.
I said he will be better than eddie once he matures, eddie is better now cuase he's more mature, so get of eddies nuts.
I'll rmeber this and we will see at the all star break. Martin is a better jumper, faster, quicker, passing, ball handler, and man to man Defender. His athletism would make him a better shot blocker in due time. Yeah he is not a great shooter, but MJ, kobe , ect, did not have a great shot at first either. At best griff will be as good as Rashhed Wallace, if he stops getting his low elevated flat shot over stromile swift. If eddie got a consitstant post move he would be better than k mart, but his shot is so easy to change because its flat. Did you see how scared he palys on offense. He can't dribble worht crap. I saw him get ripped a couple of times during the sasoen by some small guards that pressed on him. I never every saw him do a basic cross over. He's a great weak sisde, and inside defender, but Martin can guard outside, inside, and weak side. I saw martin holing T mac, can griff do that hell naw he can't. I do admit eddie will be a star biut not the best. Well i know i'm gonna get bashed, flamed and all that other stuff now...Bring it on!!!!!!!!
No flamin' ya here people are so quick to say Eddie is the bomb well yeah he made a few 3's but his shooting was 39% CMON NOW!! This fool blew about 50 open dunks and layups last season. OK I'm done!
If Griffin at 19 years old with one year of college and one year in the NBA is more mature than Martin at 24 years old with four years of college and two years in the NBA, that's not a good sign for Kenyon. Martin is a better jumper, faster, quicker, passing, ball handler, and man to man Defender. Well, man to man perimeter defense and ball handling isn't exactly a prerequisite for playing power forward. Also, it's probably easier to both pass and play defense with a year of experience. At best griff will be as good as Rashhed Wallace, if he stops getting his low elevated flat shot over stromile swift. The only power forwards better than Wallace are Duncan, Nowitzki, and Webber. Having watched Martin for several years, including college, I have my doubts that he reaches that class. If Martin came in the league when he was 19, he might've been a little scared on the offensive end too. Who cares if he can't dribble? It's not like you find that in the description book of "how to be a power forward". Defending outside and "crossing over" are things you use from the 1-3 spots, not the power forward. True, Martin can play the 3, which Griffin can't. So? With Nachbar and our other swingman, it's not like we need him there very much.
Isn't being as good as Rasheed a good thing? Think about it, Rasheed without the off/on court problems? I'll take him. 'Sheed is underated because of his temper.
What's really sad about Kenyon Martin is that Eddie Griffin averaged more rebounds per game than him, even though Griffin plays limited minutes. If Griffin gets the playing time Kenyon Martin does next season, I can guarantee you Griffin could at least match his stats. Plus look at Kenyon Martin's head shot on NBA.com. Click Here
i'm guessing the appeal of kenyon is that he's a thug and he can take cheap shots at people. i loved him coming out of cinncinati but i haven't been that impressed so far. for a "power" player he can barely outrebound mo t and has nowhere near his shot. griffin is probably already better at a younger age, while his potential is clearly higher. steve francis might be right though. eddie, although 4 years younger, is more mature than kenyon, but besides iverson, who isn't? that's not a good argument for your boy.
man, oh man. No, I would NEVER trade Griffin for Kenyon Martin. KMart MAY be a tad better now, but Griffin will be so much better it's not even funny. And if the Nets wanted Griff, why didn't they just keep him, huh?
I'm amazed, at best be as good as Wallace, you say that, as if it were a bad thing. Rasheed has all the talent in the world, he is the most talented power forward in the league, and I feel that next year he will prove it to everyone. And to be perfectly honest, I think Griffin will be great, but I'd never go as far as to say that he'll be better then Wallace or as good as Wallace. But then again anything can happen, and Griffin is young and he has the potential.
ok if we were Nets fans would we be saying this? If eddie was s good the should have traded martin after they drafted eddie since eddie is gonna be better. Themn they could trade martin to a diffrent team in the nba for some draft picks to get a better bench. We like eddie a lot...But we also like him if he's a rocket. Wanna example? would you trade Steve for Baron? most people say no. What about Kobe? I've heard people say no to that to. To tell you the truth i wouldn't trade Francis for anybody but shaq. Its clearly evident that we perfer our players because they are rockets. Come on now, am i right or what jk(All in good fun,we gotta have some kind of controversy going on here.)
try to learn how to type. anyhow, why didn't they just trade martin away? well that basically meant that they would have given up on the #1 overall pick from last year only after a year of development. and for what? the #7 pick (griffin)? and remember the rockets traded 3 players for griffin. the nets probably wouldn't have taken griffin if the rockets didn't tell them 'hey, we'll send you 3 picks if you draft griffin for us'. would you trade Steve for Baron? most people say no. What about Kobe? I've heard people say no to that to. To tell you the truth i wouldn't trade Francis for anybody but shaq. actually i would rather have baron over steve. both are virtually the same in every aspect except baron can shoot the 3 a little bit better. and baron's not plagued w/ migraines. but it wasn't our choice (steve or baron?) b/c steve wanted out of vancouver. and for you to say that you would not trade steve for kobe, mcgrady, duncan or even paul pierce ....that just shows what you know about talent. Its clearly evident that we perfer our players because they are rockets. well of course we do. if we didn't, why would they be on our roster in the first place?
