http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/11/rockets_113_kings_106_getting.html ... This should be considered a good thing. This is how it was through much of last season with Carl Landry and Luis Scola. The backups should sometimes outplay the starters, especially since they often play more of their minutes against other backups. When it comes to point guards, however, the good play of the backup often leads to calls to make him the starter. It's one of the many ways point guards are like quarterbacks. The Rockets, however, consider their mix at the point to be a strength. Both can be inconsistent.... Anybody see Tracy McGrady on Saturday? For the first time this season, he did not attend a Rockets game. Sore back. Rick Adelman said again that there has been no change in the plan to wait until McGrady practices and has an MRI and his opinion that ""He's not ready to play yet." "It's not different from before he put his uniform on," Adelman said. "Things haven't changed. If it's changed that much, I'll put a uniform on if it can change everything. I wouldn't look very good in it." McGrady checked in on Saturday, said he had a sore back and was told to stay home, do his stretching exercises and that they would check him out on Sunday. It could turn out to be nothing, the sort of thing that happens after a lot of workouts and flights. If he was playing, treatment might have gotten him through. But it is a reminder — if all of last season was not enough — that this time, the Rockets have every reason to maintain control of decisions about when he plays that they ceded too often last season. Or did anyone think that NBA players get in games based on really, really, really wanting to play?
I left a comment... "Honesty Fegan, you are a terrible crap mouth piece for Tracy. I wish you would buck the saddle off your back and tell us the truth. Its like the chronicle is your mommy and Tracy is your daddy. I wish that the other writers on the Chron were not worse than you. Keep up the good work."
i can't defend what he did last year. he should receive all the criticism he should get. i don't think what he's doing right now is detrimental to the team this year at all. he simply wants to play. he wanted to audition for the team in training camp, and was never given the chance. you can't hurt a team if you can't play. tracy hurt us last year b/c he did play, and sucked at it.
Wow Tmac is really brave! Its easy to whine about wanting to play when you know the team has a mandated timeline for you. Its gonna be something else to play with the same heart as the other persons on the team.
Sounds like a cop out to me. It's gotten to the point where one day I don't hear about Tracy McGrady, the better I feel. And this coming from one of his staunchest supporters since the start of his career. Can't wait for him to just get back and shut everyone up, or stink it up and get shipped outta town.
Haha. You got to be kidding me. If he has an injured back now there is no aother way than retirement.
I thought you were a T-Mac fan? Anyways it's just a sore back, I think it was just from all those practices. We'll only wait and see untill he comes back on the 23rd for his MRI.
I am. But it doesn't change anything. Well yes, sometimes you are sore after workouts, etc. We will see.
he's just resting up for that monday's practice. but from adelman's words, it seems it doesn't matter what tracy does in that practice, he won't be back anytime soon.
Maybe T-Mac finally understands the insurance situation and is playing ball, so to speak with what the organization wants. If this is true I'm sure they have promised Tracy a date for him to make his debut or a trade is in the works.
