May be the geekiest thread in history, but too bad. I like the game as a stress release, and it ain't bad for that. I'm new to the series, but seem like you need to build some mean towers pretty quick to defend your town. The Orcs seem like the easiest to succeed with (at least early on). I got blown away quick as an Elf. Whats the trick with using special powers/potions? When the sh*t hits the fan, I barely have time to find my bad ass dude and have him stomp the ground or something. I never can seem to get around to using some of the priest's tricks.
I'm getting slaughtered myself on the multiplayer games. Maybe you need to be more aggressive. I get attacked early on by a medium sized force which I am not ready for. Maybe if you sent a force to the other guy's base he'll be too busy fending you off to send his force to your base. I haven't tried that yet, and I haven't done well in the game so take my advice lightly, if at all. B
I'm still playing on Single Player, since I want to see how the storyline evolves and to practice. And DoD, I cheated for one campaign that I couldn't beat, it wasn't fun =/
Where is everyone on SP? I'm midway through the undead campaign. I'm surprised that I actually like the undead units a lot. LOVE the gold mine stuff. No need to transport it, just go and seize all the gold mines you can! I've only played one MP game against my brother and I won it.
I'm around halfway through the Orc campaign, when you have to collect like 15,000 lumber while fighting off the Elves.
It's only fun if you win. If you cheat and lose, well, you are just a jackass. Muhahhahahahahahahahhaaa!!!
I see the strategy we discussed is working well for Multiplayer I have found playing on a large map usually prolongs my existence for an extra 10-15 minutes. Also play with 2 computer players and put one of them on your team. That will give you a little help. CK
I haven't played multiplayer. I never play the campaigns. I usually get bored and just want to fire something up and mess with it for a few minutes. Hence, no campaigns for me. I'm going to be blunt about this, but these guys must be nuts programming a game where you just absolutely get trounced on your first few go-rounds. I mean it's not even close. I think I build one effin' hut and the wrath of Zeus is on my ass. I have my hut and here comes 2 Level 6 heroes and a horde-in-waiting following them. I finally got so pissed, I just used the "iseedeadpeople", "warpten", and the "greedisgood [amount]" cheats. I'm still having fun. By the way, does anybody else hate the 90 food cap?
I think the 90 food cap is good in some ways. It is hard enough to keep track of 20 units let alone 100. I'm currently on the last human mission and I'm having a blast. I finally stopped playing SimGolf to get some Warcraft III in. So far the story is actually keeping me interested. Not that it's great, but it's much better than Warcraft I and II. I still haven't had a chance to play multiplayer against another human, just the computer. Anyone up for some online games tonight? Maybe we could get a 4 player match going around 8:00 pm central time tonight? B
I'm playing 4v4 games and they're a blast. Anyways, I thnk the general strategy among players is to place your 5 peasants/peons/wisps on the mine, and pump out 4-5 more immediately. I go on to build either a barracks or altar, a farm, lumber or war mill, then barracks or altar. (That's my order, I'm used to using humans so the names should differ). Communication in team games is key. If you want to organize an attack up, down, left, right, you're going to need to chat. If you want to organize whether one team is magical, the other is air, ground, mixed, whatever. Chat! That's what I've learned so far. 2-2 so far in Battle.net fixed games, so I still suck
Anyone up for a game tonight or Saturday afternoon? My profile has IM and ICQ names if you want to contact me. B
Vengeance, B, any one else, want to set up an organized team game on B.net? Maybe against others from here, or just anyone else online. AIM is menk hala if you want to message me, or 76448499 ICQ. I'm PurpleOranges@Lordaeron (USWEST), so yeah. Just look for the guy that sucks I think I'll start a WCIII account name thread. Oh, and you don't need broadband to play. I've heard of alot of people playing it on modem. (I'm at like.. 3-9, so yeah )
Good game, B. Got my mass footies with air, sneaky b*stard Like I said in the channel, should have rushed, oh well, hope to play you another time, whether opponent or teammate. We should start a Clutch City clan. Anybody up for it?
I don't think that I'm ready yet; this game takes a little time to master. It seems that it requires more ineraction during battles than many of the other RTS games.
I'm a hardcore Blizzard game player. I'm up for anything. Anyone wanna organize games, clans, whatever. IM me. AIM: tsueiblah
