forced by who? He is not capable of creating for himself or teammates. When he lays off of that stuff is when he plays his best. He is successful when he plays within his limitations (hitting 3s, finishing fast breaks)

He has his strengths, like any player does. But in Ariza's case I think his liabilities outweigh his strengths by far. Mainly being, he can't close games and chokes in the 2nd half against the better teams.

I understand what you're saying, but who else is going to create though? Battier, Aaron "turnover" Brooks?

At least he is costing us 4 millions, not 23. Great steal by the management.

This team is made up of hard working solid role players and that's just not going to get it done in this league where all of the top teams have at least a big 3.

Ariza will play a lot better once there is a star to draw the attention.

He's being forced into a role that we didn't sign him to fill. The sooner ceryone realizes that, the sooner people will be more understandind when he loses the ball or jacks up a crazy shot.

ariza needs to not touch the ball in the waning moments of the game. everytime he tries to create his shot or dribble it just looks awkward and is a travel/turnover waiting to happen. his handle is very weak and i think adelman lost confidence in him as only brooks handled the ball at the end of the 4th.

he's still a pretty good defender though which is why budinger wasnt in.

Basically, he is a complimentary player who is trying to be the "go to" guy. He is simply not good enough to star. The Rockets probably promised him a bigger role than he had in LA; that may not work out. He is not horrible, but he has mini-handles, and to make his points he has to "volume shoot," sort of like TMac did the last two seasons. I like his defensive effort and he has a decent level of athleticism. He could be Shane's replacement.

The difference between a role player and a star is that a star can perform at a high level consistently.

The bottom line is, we are getting what we paid out of Ariza, if not more. Let's be real, what exactly are you expecting, him to have an impact on the game like Carmelo Anthony? You need to re-adjust your expectations from a $20mil/year guy to a $6mil/year guy, and then you would begin to appreciate the pieces we have on our roster.

hHe was guarding williams the first 3 qurters though...so i dont know if that makes up for it, maybe, but he still needs to stop gambling so much. It's simple, stop gambling so much on defense and stop forcing shots/drives. That's it, that's all he has to not do and he'll be fine, the problem is he's doing it a lot so it makes it look much worse.

He is a complementary player only because he hasn't had a chance to be more.

These threads really shouldn't be popping up for at least another 2 months...should this level of play continue.

    Settle down, kids.

here we ago again, stop F U C K I N complaining, he is not offensive type of player, he'll not get you 25 or 30 points a game, even though we lost, but we played better, and they were lucky at the end, all we do is complain after every game and point fingers, for god sake just let it go, it was great game for both teams, but the hawks got the better shot at the end, stop complaining

Actually I think when he hesitates and becomes passive he struggles, thinks to much, but when he is assertive and slashes he is fine. Put him next to a strong 2 and dominant Big Man then watch this kid thrive.

ariza is not a superstar or anywhere near it. he's a good complimentary piece. He's definitely not a problem. but he's also not a playmaker.

    I like Ariza.

Good three point shooter and well above average defender...maybe one of the best. Great at anticipating passes and getting steals.

When he was with Orlando I thought he was an athletic freak but he does seam stiff and not a particularly good ball handler now.

Overall I think he is a very good player. This team does not really have a go to player. Which I think hurts Trevor because sometimes it forces him to do more than he is comfortable with. I really think Brooks or Lowery need to be the ones handling the ball and not Ariza since he is just not good at it.

We will just have to see what Morey adds to the team at the trade dead line. I'm sure he wants a true go to guy to take some of the pressure off of guys like Trevor but not at the expense of the team chemistry. But what Ariza is doing now is going to have value down the road.
